Does ZW still run that atrocious ground handling outfit on A in IAD? What a circus that was in its hay day.

No... lost that what, about two years ago now already? That was the big blow to the AWAC ground handling operation.

No matter who runs it, A term is waaay better than the Ghetto gates ever could have been

Up until early 2006, yes. They were also wholly-owned by United way back in the day.

Just curious, now that the dust has settled. Does anybody have any insight on what happened with ZW flying for Delta?

I know there was a deal in the works sometime last year, but it seemed to fall apart at the last minute? Anybody know the details on why the deal fell apart?

Ugh, well long story short, they wanted us to fly some 200s that were parked out in the desert opening a Detroit crew base and possibly a cvg one too. Pretty much everything was set in principle. Now being I wasn't there I don't know for sure except from what was told from some higher ups. Pretty much it had some pretty stiff language about how we were to operate. More or less we had to jump through rings of fire day in and day out or face some penalties in terms of on time performance Etc Etc etc and the Company told them to go take a hike. Basically delta wanted a contract that would run us into the ground and our owners were smart enough not to sign. Was it a good choice. To a lot of people no, we will know in the next year or so.

The biggest hang up I was told about was Delta didn't want to compensate ZW for cancellations that were not ZW's fault, i.e. Weather, ATC delays, et al. Being that a large part of the flying was rumored to be out JFK, it was smart not to sign up for it.

I've always pointed to this no-deal as to why I believe ZW will keep its doors open after Q1 2018. They are pretty savvy with their long-term strategy.

Maybe we will fly the 170's RPA is parking this week.

Or just keep flying 200's for the sheer enjoyment of it.
