To my knowledge there are no "buddy passes" with a regional.

With United you'll get to sign up parents, spouse, children up to 26 (I think 26 is the limit), and then one or two outside of that parameter. It's United's non-rev program. If I recall correctly: Parents, spouse and children were $50 each/yr; others were $200 annually. You pay annually to be a part of the system. Some restrictions, lots of code share partners, can upgrade to first class by pre-paying paying X$, you pay taxes on international flights, imputed taxes are assessed with some of the usage. You'll learn the ropes as you go. There is no how-to guide. It's OK with seniority, so so without, brutal if your family has any kind of schedule they need to adhere to.

Long-shot using for holidays, spring break, weekends, big events when you are low seniority. There is a good chance your non-revers will be spending the time in some terminal after being bumped for the fifth time waiting for a flight. You'll need to be creative and have lots of time on your hands. If you want to go PHX to ORD when the Cubs are in spring training you will not get a direct flight. You might have to go PHX-LAX-DEN-ORD.

I forget about getting home when EAA (Oshkosh) is going on as all the senior CA's in the system end up with seats; cannot even get a jump seat home for that week. That might change if ZW gets regular routs to ATW and GRB again.

Non-Reving is better than nothing, and we used it, but it's not like your family shows up and get what they want. It's a lot of effort planning and working the system to get anywhere.

Default Call outs and flows

Does any one know if in the sim on the initial, do they pair you with a captain or FO? If with an FO, do that means you memorize both sides thecall outs, flows etc( captain and FO)?

Newhire checkrides are with your initial instructor in the left seat and the APD running the sim. This is so you don't have a partner that has a bad ride hinder your ride.

During initial you wil be paired with another FO most likely for the training. So yes, you will need to be familiar with the Captain flows, call-outs etc. We think it creates a more well-rounded pilot and you can be better equipped for effective CRM on the line. I can't speak for the Check rides but what was posted seems accurate since it's a type ride now.

Most training departments want the "challenges" read from the checklist, not recited from memory. The "responses" should not be from the checklist or memory, but from observing and reporting the status of each item. Instructors are especially upset when abnormal procedures (beyond the "immediate action" items) are attempted from memory.
