The union is caustic towards the company, LAX/SFO created this. This relationship is cut to the bone, it’s personal, it’s deep. We spent 1 year fighting to the death over uniforms, uniforms they wanted to pay for. I think the chances are 100%, I was being optimistic!

I trust emotions don’t overshadow smart and calculated decisions that will still take a bit of time to have a full grasp on. If mgmt makes decision based on we will show them(union) then all stake holders will be short changed I know that happens in mid mgmt ranks of many places not just alaska or unions I have faith Union & AS high echelons will have cooler heads prevail after all they earn their positions making sound decisions based on information and not letting the fact they may be butt hurt that someone said something bad about them. I actually think we have that in union hopefully the company as well we shall see

Just when I think you are being reasonable you go and say crap like this. You don’t seem to realize that there is no “angry 800” VX pilots working here. There are several hundred more angry Alaska pilots working here. The former VX pilots are Alaska pilots, Boeing pilots, Union pilots. You’re trying to create an artificial divide that does not exist. You claim to be a Union man but you are really just a shill for management trying to create decent amongst the rank and file. I recognize it and most of the rest of Alaska pilots recognize it. The union leadership recognize it. Continue to claim you are on our side by spreading FUD. We can see it for what it is.

Are you kidding me? Have you heard the rhetoric coming from the VX side for the last 4 years? It has been nauseating on this board, I hear it almost every time I run into a guy wearing black pants, sizing me up, publicly dressing down any and all things Alaska. I even get to listen to it in the sim. 99% of it is venomous nonsense, coming from a puffed up chest and a arrogant stance of 100% cluelessness. It’s all hyperbole and witchcraft, based loosely on some peyote induced dream. I fly with Boeing guys, I can tell you there is a canyon between us. Almost everything you guys ever say is how bad LAS pilots suck and how much Alaska sucks. You guys were going to burn this place down, coming in hot, you guys were blessed with all the answers. Even going so far as to train up all the new guys to hate this place, burn baby burn. Well guess what, it blew up in your face. I have a lot of friends in the 73, I know everybody laugh, not one of them thinks highly of the Airbus guys, most all of you come off as prats, peculiar creatures we desperately try to avoid, this I promise. Guys snicker when they see you from my side, they starting wearing hats, so they could differentiate. If the dudes I know are wearing hats, there is definitely a problem. Don’t worry though, no LVX pilots that hate this place so much will be furloughed. You are all safe. Some lucky dudes that actually wanted to work for this company get to take the fall!

If they wanted them so badly, why didn't they actually seek the CONTRACTUALLY REQUIRED union agreement BEFORE unilaterally charging ahead with their plans? Stop gaslighting us, every one of us can remember all the way to last fall.

New Guy was never a VXer. Started on the 737 and never bid the bus. He just for some reason hates Alaska and loves Virgin. This is true.

Assuming you are actually a pilot for a second, and not a plant, this has been the opposite of my experience moving from SFO based to SEA based. If you disregard the 1% from each side, everyone else is far more the same than different. We know our contract is weak, we want better schedules, better pay, real scope, and so on. The pants are irrelevant. Aside from one rather spirited conversation from a former union guy who got a little huffy when I told him my QOL experience was objectively much better sitting reserve at VX compared to reserve at AS, there has been zero tension. (After hearing his perspective, I'm glad it was former union guy). We go have a beer on the layover and shoot the sh** same as when I was on the bus. All of my friends who switched express similar sentiments, it's all good. If AS is really going to go single fleet, I wish they would hurry up and get it over with. The sooner we all work together, the sooner those silly misconceptions about the angry 800 will fall away. The 1% will always be the 1%, but the rest of us can put that stupid and poorly founded notion behind us.
