Prior to Chinaflue hysteria, Alaska Airlines had an RFP out to Boeing, Airbus and Embraer. 737MAX, A220-1,2,3 series, E-195E2....To be operated by Alaska Airlines on the Alaska Airlines certificate. Not outsourced to Skywest/Horizon Air. Clearly for the same hourly rate as the current Airbus/Boeing pay scale. Of course that is history now but it was there

Going back through all your post history it paints all the picture I need to see. You’re not happy here, you’re not happy with how the EIL’s were awarded but the fact is they were awarded in seniority order per base. What can you be mad about? Honestly? You’re just mad you didn’t get your way fine but don’t sit here and complain that the company did something wrong. I get it you wanted an EIL to go get some “good job” and double dip and you couldn’t, well if it’s so bad here just quit and go be an EMT again there’s plenty of jobs in that field and that’s coming from someone who’s on an EIL and got a couple different jobs and quit them immediately. There’s almost nothing as good as being a pilot even on Alaska’s worst day sitting short call PM reserve getting called out for red eyes. If that sounds so awful to you maybe find another career.

When did I say I was an EMT? Why do you keep putting words in my mouth?

With all due respect it seems like you’ve had a bit much of the kool aid dude. You might wanna settle down a little.

O my bad must have been a different NewGuy01 on the Delta thread...

You know EMTs make about 12$ an hour to start right? At least that’s how it was back I the day. I just didn’t understand how something I did briefly in the past was replicant to the topic at hand. Pro tip: the good job I was looking at didn’t have a medical angle during a global pandemic where medical staff are being laid off.

I don’t even keep Wilderness First Aid current anymore. Because it’s not worth the paper it’s printed on.

I find it odd how you’re just grasping at straws to lash out at me. What’s up with the hard on? It’s weird how you’re calling me a crybaby when it’s obvious, at least to me you got super lucky with career progression or your just one of the most sheltered clueless people I’ve ran into in ages.

That’s saying a lot when it comes to pilots...

how do you know who would have flown those planes? The RFP REQUIRED the seller to only allow mainline pilots fly their planes? Sorry... jets?

You are not making sense. Alaska Air Group owns some E175’s that are leased to Horizon Air Industries. Alaska Airlines inc. submitted the RFP. Those 3 jets were going to be narrowed to one. I am in no way claiming or even believing it would happen. Just the facts.
As we know, many that work for Alaska Airlines have made the logic-defying leap that Horizon and Skywest are somehow different. Weird, I know. Outsourced flying is outsourced flying

IMO I don’t think this board has the balls to outsource a frame that is not current with the industry trends. They want everything on the outside to seem normal but on the inside they can make some extra margin and add flexibility from the lack of testicular fortitude on the pilot scope front (89k). It’s nothing personal it’s just business. They know it’s a large risk placing an aircraft at a contractor in which is so outside of industry norms. Imagine if the business faced an incident or accident with that airframe operated at a d scale rates by the 3rd party. That is too much risk for the investors. This place is reactionary, conservative and a copy cat. Ever wonder why we always announce earnings AFTER everyone else?? If ANY major relaxes scope you can bet Air Group will follow suit.

Eskimo might be getting an even better deal on the MAX...

Maybe the market for used buses will be looking up too.
