"On March 24, 2022 we announced plans to accelerate our transition to a single mainline fleet, including plans to retire all Airbus A320 aircraft by early 2023 and our intent to phase out all A321 aircraft by the end of 2023, subject to agreement with counterparties. We also announced plans to transition to a single regional fleet, with all Q400 aircraft to be retired by the end of 2023. Subsequent to our announcement, certain fleet transition costs will be reported as special items. Such costs include impairment charges, lease return costs, and other incremental costs incurred as a consequence of the accelerated fleet transition."

So we're going to be displacing 292 Airbus CAs (224 of which have been here more than 10 yrs) and 269 Airbus FOs, all over the next 18 months? It doesn't help all the chopping is out of SFO and LAX. I can't imagine them adding 292 CAs and 269 FOs only to California bases on the Boeing. These displacement bids are going to suck.

Flip side of that coin is the main problem they can claim to have had is too many people jumping back and forth from both fleets. With these (I can only assume) large displacement bids coming, it should now be a one way train from Airbus to Boeing. Probably makes their job easier for training.

in the recent recording of the chief pilot call, the DO while still saying the sfo boeing base was still planned it sounded like it there’s a good chance it won’t be on the next bid.

We don’t need new hires for a while considering the number of displaced pilots coming off the Airbus. The Airbus retirements will far outpace boeing deliveries, the new boeing upgrades in the 4-5 year range are history, they’ll finish training just in time to downgrade.
