It is wide body pay and schedule quality that forms the basis for a “career expectation” for that. It seems until recently their wide body pay mirrored our narrow body pay and their scheduling and days off were not necessarily representative of legacy wide body schedule quality. I am sure that the 330’s would be in the sale yard by the time SLI discussions occurred. Seems like date-of -hire would rule the day

It was a fair ploy.
Career Expectation
Longevity

For VX and AS, two were similar except the one with a vast difference: longevity. For HAL and AS, two are similar except the one with a vast difference: career expectation (widebodies). HAL pilots would do good in a binding SLI scenario with AS.

It’s been said of the New England missionaries who came to Christianize Hawaii: “They came to do good and they wound up doing pretty well!”

That about sums it up. I imagine virtually no one at HA will be wanting to go along with this. Get rid of widebody? Rid of HNL base? Oh perfect, just what we signed up for...........eyeroll.
787 shows up next year if not sooner. Top of current payscale CA over $350 with section 6 just about to start.

I can't believe I'm going to say this. But if AS were to buy another airline, it would be HA. Widebody and narrow body fleet aligns with the Boeing product. And use the 321 for premium transcon/HI flights. Again i can see how the moves they're making today can be instrumental in the near future.
Please go ahead and flame me, I deserve it.

like the 330’s and the 321’s the 787’s would be sent to the highest bidder...If Alaska buys Hawaiian there will be no flights from anywhere but the west coast to Hawaii. It would simply be to get rid of competition. One World and a slew of international code shares would handle everything not flown by a 737 max. Wide bodies and the Hawaii name would go the way of the Dodo bird. No matter what Minicucci et al might say

With the lack of holdco scope language in the Alaska Airlines, Inc. (subsidiary) pilot CBA, Alaska Airlines Group (holdco) could potentially acquire another airline and operate it as a separate sister subsidiary without integrating the 2 units. AAG is unique in this regard amongst US airlines.
While I am not certain that this would happen due to the inability to realize meaningful cost synergies, it is possible and would avoid any integration issues while preserving the brand if deemed important. In effect, AAG could operate a portfolio of separately branded subsidiaries.
One caveat: the target airline's CBAs might preclude this if any of them have holdco scope language.
Cheers - Rob.
