HA pilots will be bidding (or forced onto) the 737 just by the math. Maybe they have a small base in HNL to supplement interisland 737? Maybe not. 41 widebodies is roughly 650 pilots.. heavier on the FO side. We have 1200 total. 600 will be going to a 737 imo. Most of that, to include WB pilots, will be mainland based. That’s not counting AZ.

Depending on if all the 330’s stay in HNL…( I don’t see that happening) 787 SEA will be the more junior a/c if it’s all staffed by HA. Pilots will fight tooth and nail to stay in HNL. Too many wives that will refuse to leave family in HI.

Roughly 600 pilots will be going to mainland 737 bases at some point.

That would be quite a lot of our MAX 10 "growth"

Shane was quoted in the Seattle times as saying 500-600 B787 pilots based in SEA. That math works for 17 planes and augmented/heavy crews.

The 330’s are getting refurbished to stay in HNL, the question is how many (24?).

The bigger question is how big (small?) is the 737 HNL base once they park the 717/321.

2035 plan is 41/550 which is 7% widebody versus the current HAL at 57% widebody. Ouch!

I’m still trying to figure out where the missing 3 787s are. Hawaiian had 12 orders with at least 8 remaining options for 20 total… But now they’re saying 17 total and acting like it was always 17.

The question was asked during a Hawaiian townhall and management gave a long winded non-answer. Someone asked a union rep and they said AAG management wouldn’t explain it to them either.

With 737 island ops there is some trade space as to where the crews get based, since they'll probably have to flow to the planes in and out of the islands to balance cycles with airframe time. Odds are they can adjust that some simply due to where people *want* to be based, although if they want to pinch every last penny then more island based crews might actually be better... let the crews pay the high local rent, rather than the company paying for expensive resort hotels.

My guess is that worst case when the dust settles everybody on property at HA today will have the option to be based at home forever, just might be on a 73 instead of a WB (that's a trade I would make, guppy jokes aside).

Yes, ouch. The current HAL at 57% widebodies was unsustainable.
