Something went down mid morning… something big. The doors were closed, the important ones were shut all day, no one is talking😱😱😱[/QUOTE]
it’s one or both of these, straight from SD’s mouth
1. open SAN as a base
2. open virtual bases
they are in morale boosting mode for the pilot group. Something to attract pilots. Need 700 in 2023 and only 300 in the pipeline. Turns out our “industry leading contract” isn’t getting pilots to flock here.

HA has been explored 4x, with both companies walking away saying, “it just doesn’t work”
I was told our board will never sell to SWA…
UAL? I am confident they are interested, but I don’t think the DOJ will sign off on it… plus capital has gotten very expensive lately.
PB was brought in to explore all options, hoping to produce the best equity for shareholders… I am starting to think the conclusion from that exploration is independence…I think we are going it alone

Maybe, I think it’s a lot bigger though. Have you seen the look in someones eyes when they lost their job or thought they might…. That’s the look I saw at the HIGHEST management level. People who are usually very arrogant and seem to think they are irreplaceable, stumbling around in a daze, like they were looking at the world through a straw.

Maybe heads rolling for the latest Snowmageddon. Maybe accountability for those arrogant irreplaceable people. But more often then not it’s something anyone saw coming(VX) or something to attract more pilots.

We lost 21 in November and already had 5 put in their notice when the Unions' attrition report came out on Dec 1. And this is was after the contract got voted in. Something has to be done, the company can't be happy with the attrition rate compared to the people going through class. I'm glad I'm not in their shoes.
When did SD talk about virtual bases and SAN?

I'm just waiting for the day that some airline decides to "home base" pilots. For example, allow that certain pilot to live in a major city that has atleast "X" amount flights per day. At this point they will either DH or find away for the pilot to start that pilots trip at that major city and then end it at that city with either a flight or DH. Obviously, there are tons a variables and would be costly, but if this was a way of solving that specific airlines pilot problems it could be successful. Imagine if UAL announced something along this line and PDX and SEA were in that group. Talk about attrition.
This is just something that the guy and I were chatting about on the trip last week.
