You do you. But it’s disingenuous at best to tout a temporary policy as reason to make a career decision. Doom and gloom…get real man, don’t be so dense. It’s a great policy, but it also didn’t make it into Contract ‘22. Doesn’t take a brain surgeon to connect the dots that it is likely not long for this world.
I’ll do me-positive.
This place will never get better when people just walk around with a smug attitude all the time.

I went from having 19 days off a month to 13-14. Went from commutable trips on both ends to early shows and late arrivals causing my nights in SFO on my own dime to go from 1-2 a month to 5-6. Went from getting 25-35k profit sharing to 7-9k performance based bonus. My W2 was basically the same but I lost 4-6 days a month at home. Now you will hear from a bunch of guys that Alaska is the only major carrier they’ve worked for, tell you I’m full of kaka. I’m not.

This is a large part of the problem here at Alaska…they love to hire guys who have it way worse to level expectations. Don’t commit the cardinal sin of comparing Alaska QOL with that of your old job, but instead compare yourself to your peers flying the same equipment at United, Delta, etc…

About a year ago, spirit put out a contract comparison. Is there one for this contract? I’d love to see how the new contract compares.

While I get that, imo Alaska is in a different category as the big 3. I’m not expecting the same thing as those companies because those companies are much much larger and have a higher cash flow. I’m planning on moving to anchorage due to my wife’s job and this company is a great fit for that. I currently fly cargo and absolutely hate it. So, FedEx and UPS are out. Pay doesn’t matter to me. Being home and/or loving my job means a lot more.

Also, it's hilarious that the Alaska advocate's name is Frequent Flyer. Because that is exactly what you will do here.
