I still have my last letter from virgin about the payout, profit sharing was $24k, then Alaska left us on the virgin pay system, but paid our profit sharing under the Alaska system, I dropped to $8k.
that was another nice kick in the teeth.

What was the structure/formula for the Virgin profit sharing?

07 VX hire who spent more time on committees there advocating for better that we never achieved than you have spent *****ing about Alaska on these forums.. Worked the system better than 95% of line captains and the most I made in the best year premerger was 240K, including bonus. The only folks who were ever capable of making over 300K.were LCA’s who were getting after it doubling up, or Refresh MCs who were able to abuse the system for 130 hours credit per month. Your bonus added to your pay, not QoL.

I was ****ed as hell when the VX MEC gave away PBS in the name of unity. It turns out they made the right call. The new CBA promises to return the schedule flexibility you once had while giving you job protections, security, and contractual assurances of the the scheduling rules that you never had. These were only possible because of the unity of the group.

You and I had one year where the new Alaska payrates were coupled with our PBS rules. You no doubt look upon that year as something afforded to you by VX. It wasn’t. It was afforded to you by the merger..

The sad thing is that you sit there and denigrate our fellow pilots who flew AF as McCord. I just finished CQ last month with a dude who is active Reserve at McCord and he was probably the best support I have ever had.

Condescending tone? Perhaps you don’t comprehend the tone your typed defecation on our pilot group and our company has. Many of us who towed the line and did the heavy lifting all along the way including multiple pickets and many times stepping up to get a deal like the one we just got, might actually dare to be excited about what has been achieved here. If you’re still chapped so badly that you find solace in warning good pilots not to come here, by all means keep it up. But don’t expect to not be rebutted when your exaggerations are written.

Bingo. VX pay maxed at $185/hr. Didn’t see 240/hr until the JCBA arbitration ruling. My max year was 240K with bonus on VX rates. JCBA plus VX rules shot that up to about 330K with VX work rules and new AS rates.

It’s pure fantasy that someone thinks they had a better deal at VX. Most certainly could have dropped down to 18-19 days off on the new Alaska rates and acheived pre JCBA VX money. 90 hours at 185 is 70 at 240. The reality of the past doesn’t help those who find solace in anger at the present.
