The Alaska discount is alive and well

R. Allan for president. This right here, plus I'd add in WOCL and S.E. override. Higher sick time accrual and lower health care premiums. We would clearly hold the cards if they came back begging for an extension 7-8 months into a new CBA. Of course, I doubt this scenario plays out, but if it does, we better not tuck tail again.

From what I read, their new per diem is tied to the current government rates. That's huge!! Something I've been advocating for, over the last two decades. That's a lot more TAX FREE DOLLARS in your pocket. Think of all the places we overnight on the East/West Coast and in the Islands. It's a win win for us and the company.

Ah, gotcha. Is it a "flat" Average weight for the entire system? Or does it depend on the region or something like that?

- Domestic per diem adjusted on an annual basis to 90% of the government M&IE rate based
on a weighted average of the top 10 layover cities, by volume, rounded up to the nearest
whole $.05
- 2023 Domestic Per Diem: $2.85 (Current Domestic Per Diem: $2.45)
on a weighted average of the top 10 layover cities, by volume, rounded up to the nearest
whole $.05
- 2023 Domestic Per Diem: $2.85 (Current Domestic Per Diem: $2.45)

Thanks for the clarification. Still pretty good but yeah, the promised land is $1 for $1 with the government rates. Seems like a win/win for both pilots and managements. More tax free dollars for us and bigger write offs for them.

Has Alaska been running such a smooth ship that anyone could know they would not need a hotel room. Twice in the last 3 weeks my schedule changed on day 4 of 5. Called the hotel both times. Both times the hotel said that I was inside the 24 hrs to cancel. Charged the company card anyway. The goofy Alaska style stat about unused hotel rooms is empty and pointless. If I book a room at the Westin planning to check in at 10pm on a Sunday the cancellation window closes at 3 pm on Saturday. That is 31hrs before I plan to check in…..Think about the absolute goat screw the schedule has been for the last 6 months. The odds of being able to effectively cancel a hotel for a refund is seriously low. What the VP needs to do is look at each hotel room not cancelled as a result of carelessness and give us that number…..A tenth of what he is gloating about….Or make appropriate adjustment to the program and get busy figuring out why attrition is higher after the “mandate contract” then before….Flight ops is such an amateur hour operation

I’m 10/10 in that situation of having the hotel front desk cancel the room and refund the company card inside 24hrs…it’s not that hard.

Negative. And besides that, we’re talking about commuter hotels, that the company pays for commuting pilots. Not hotels during regular pairings…

R. Allan is spot on. We should not fix their attrition problem without getting some serious gains in areas other than straight hourly rates. This contract is such an overhaul of what we had - a massive improvement, no doubt. That being said, we need to clean things up and make it industry leading in values for vacation, training, per diem, etc. And we absolutely need to get a real me too clause that is tied to the top of the industry.... No averages.

Of the 545 eligible voters in LA, only 1/3 decided to vote for their next rep. I remember when SEA numbers would be that bad - or worse - and were made fun of. Guess it’s just too hard to log on ALPA’s website, click the BALLOT OPEN button, checkmark a name, confirm, submit. Far easier to complain on APC and Alyeska the woes of AS.
