Default Upgrade time

First post here and this seems the most relevant thread for seniority progression.

Been here two years and I think we’ve shrunk since? I’ve move backwards in relative base seniority and am at risk of getting displaced from live in base and having to commute to reserve.

Can anyone put their thumb on a realistic upgrade time from today into any base? New ALPA Seniority tracker tool says on retirements alone, I’d be looking at 2036-37. My time here has been characterized by management kicking the can down the road on hiring promises and I’ve got little to show for the 2 years under my belt. Still on reserve

no, to many variables. New base, 2 shrinking bases, JCBA, SLI, nuclear war, climate change, H1N1, supply line issues, and aircraft delivery/retirement timeline changes. All these together put upgrade between 1-20 years… roughly.

Where are people seeing estimated upgrade

are people just taking when they would be that Sen # for the most junior captain in base to see when they hold it? Or is there a actual tab that says estimated time to captain

I think there was an actual tab last time I looked. Now checking again I don’t see it.

To the OP I remember seeing an average seniority movement of 2-3% for the next decade on the unions abysmal seniority website. Plus an impending SLI windfall, it sounds like your number it gave you could be accurate.

I didn’t see a tab. I was just looking at most junior captain and when I’d be at that relative seniority. Assuming we stay the same size

I would count on 7-8 years and be happy if it ends up being less. Way too many variables right now.

Your best bet is to look at the bid transaction log and see how many pilots senior to you wanted to switch bases as a captain or upgrade. Then look at the number of available openings on the next position bid. Also, it is important to keep in mind that this next bid is a reduction bid. So senior pilots can displace junior pilots not only out of their base but out of their seat as well.

If you do look into the information available, you'll find the answer is even worse than what the website is projecting. Just be sure not to talk about it with anyone. Or you'll be labeled a complainer and miserable.

7-8 year captains will be displaced out of their bases or downgraded on this bid.

Maybe, but predicting the future off a single bid is idiotic.
