Anyway, back to VX, apparently drug test calls (emails) are going out to some people for the July 17 class.

Family time is most important. Paychecks matter, too. Job security doesn't exist in aviation. If it flies, there's always a chance one can be furloughed and jobless (carrier disappears, lost medical, etc).

Spirit JA pay: limited on how many times you can get JA'a in a year, and I've heard it's being enforced (unlike a few years ago where guys were making secret deals, etc. Scheduling ALWAYS knows who to call)
Spirit 321 override? On what, 2 321's? (yeah, i know they just ordered 20 more, several more years before they show up)
Not sure where you got your VX vacation info, but you get 3 weeks in years 1-5, pro-rated from date of hire for first year, but you earn it in the same year you take it. Get hired Jan 1, 2014 you will get 3 weeks in 2014. 5+ years you get 4 weeks.
A "week" is only worth 17.5, so yes, that's a little low, but vacation blocks start on mondays and you get 7 days.
You also get 2 personal days/year to use to drop or split trips, or, you can elect to have them assigned prior to a month's bid so they are a "pre-planned" absence. I always use mine around a vacation block which gives me more pre-assigned credit and allows me to bid less trips in that month.
And NK doesn't have pref-bid. Kinda limits what your whole month will be if you need a certain day(s) off...stuck bidding hard lines that have that time off. I have NEVER not been able to get days off I need without sacrificing the rest of the month.

Newhires wondering about JFK/EWR:
Our bidding opens Aug 1 and closes Aug 15 with results out. Newhire and upgrade bidding opens Aug 15 and closes Aug 31. If you are interested in JFK/EWR, by Aug 15 you will know if you are getting it or not. By making it an official base, they can offer it to newhires. In fact, they want 50 crews there and if enough current VX pilots don't bid by close of Aug 1, then newhire guys might even get forced EWR/JFK. I'm not saying it's gonna happen, but it all depends how these sample pairings look that are suppose to come out this week.
Stay tuned.

If you search my post history, you will see that I'm a VX pilot simply based on the information posted could only have come from a VX pilot.
So... still no answer. You said 'yes sir' and voted in the paycuts. Justify it however you want, trying to avert BK, it was best for me and my family, etc, but it doesn't chagne anything. It's not my contention that if you had said "not one penny" then nothing would have happened. The point is by doing that, you would have stood up for what's right and fair. Since you didn't, and caved by voting yes, I don't think you're in any position to tell a LCC pilot what they are doing is wrong or that they are bringing the industry down.
You could have drawn a line. Instead, you decided it was better on getting more raises on the widebodies and letting the 50 seat market go. Who would have thought those small little "RJs" would have expanded so much? Delta pilots opened that Pandoras box circa 1993.
You have a 76 seat payrate on your Delta PWA, yet you don't operate a single 76 seater with a Delta seniority list pilot. Wonder why?
RJs? We aren't even connecting the dots on the route map (eg, ORD-DFW or JFK-MCO) because quote "we don't have a big enough customer base over there to allow that successfully." What makes you think we have enough of a customer base in Reno or Stockton to justify RJs feeding into SFO or LAX? Sorry, but the current VX business model with its route map does not have any room for RJs.
You started voting yes to paycuts even before VX came in 2007. So that excuse doesn't work.
Aspire to retire? 30+ years is a long time. Who knows who will be around then? 1974 things were great at places like Pan Am or Eastern. 30 years later, they didn't exist. I don't have an "aspiration" to retire at any place, because no matter where I go, I doubt that place will still exist in the same manner 30+ years from now.
