I realize there are retirments to fill but I'm waiting for even more routes to be announced! Or maybe we're finally going public with our 787 purchase!
I heard 2000 by 2000 and 3000 by 3000. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Been hearing the 160 by the end of the year rumor by almost everyone. The FBS is now the choke point, they're doing them in the new 800 sim.

160 in the next 12 months, not end of year. 120 is a bit more realistic.

Source?

I just heard from JH yesterday and he said their marching ~24/mo going forward & 160 by end 2014. Saw JL in the hall today and he corroborated that his dept is planning for that.

Too late for 24 in July. That leaves 24 a month for 5 months. That's 120.

The "growth mode" memo alluded to 84-104 new hires for the rest of the year. Heck, this current bid only has 44 vacancies on it. Where is everyone coming up with these 100+ numbers? Are you sure you aren't confusing the total for 2014? I think Alaska will have a total of 160 for the year.

As far as it being "too late for July," what makes you say that? The next class starts on 7/7. They could start another class later in the month.

I am in the July 21st class with a total of 10 new hires. I'm looking forward to it!

There's supposedly an August 4th class after mine, too.

Spoke with a base Chief last week and he said 100 more by the end of the year. They did interviews on the 5/6 and have more interview dates on the 25/26 of June.
