I've tried to make the most of this merger, but after the base closure, next closet base 3,000 miles away. About 100 policy and procedures that make no sense, and the straw that broke the camel's back, April's schedule = 18 days on, 12 off, 83 hrs credit. Unbelievable, over 20 years in the industry never had a schedule like this. So glad to make it to a legacy contract!

Just wait until you see how vacation works. Sure you can get a trip to drop if it touches a day but you need to make up the hours for the month. So for April for example you need to maintain 77hrs. You can not drop below this. If you do a trip is assigned.
Step trading can be used to make up for the lost hours later in the month but heaven forbid you’re jr.
If you bid open flying lines you’ll be assigned flying and now that vacation trade isn’t looking so good at all.

It's very puzzling why anyone (MEC) would even entertain the idea of giving that up.

So I don’t get it... In another post you act like SWA is about to put Alaska out of business. Then here, our demands on strength. You know what you can do if you want a strong contract, and no it is not complain like a child on a anonymous forum. Do what the union wants you to do. Do your job, do it safely, do it really well. Don’t slow down, or produce a crappy product. Help this company produce that 15% ROE and then you can demand a better contract on strength. Struggling companies do not give out great contracts, strong companies are the only ones that can do that.

NewGuy? My heart breaks for you. Is that what you want to hear. Your life is so terrible, your job the worst. You will only make 90k, 140k, 155K, 165k over the next 4 years with another 15.5 going into your 401k. And that is a worst case (no new contract), with any luck (a healthy growing company), year 5 you will make at least 250k. I bet you are going to be ok. Yes, things could be better and they will if we all do our jobs.
The union knows what we want. They can only get this for you if this company is knocking it out of the park!
