I want to apologize for my slights against the Boeing side, except for OTZ-all insults stand, they were uneccesary and fueled by my anger towards the latest quality of life hit as we have begun working under your work rule. Sorry for being an internet tough guy and jerk.

I am with ya, for me its all about the minimum for home life and then pick up extra if the home life permits. 70 hours was good, 65 would be better but 75 and the way they are building trips jams us all up on the bus side for sure.

Yes, OTZ is a troll. Don’t feed the troll. He is trying to divide the group. I only comment to point out that his portrayal of what his pension is worth is wildly off the mark. If he was retiring this year, the most his pension could be worth is $225,000, not 112% of his high five of the last ten years no matter if he was hired at the age of 15 or 25. The IRS limit is $225,000 for 2019. Putting out garbage numbers like his serves only to divide the group. Furthermore, he can pick up all the premium pay he wants (and he seems to relish in pointing that out) but he only gets to count $280,000 in 2019 towards that high five calculation. Those numbers are determined by the IRS and only change between 0 and $5,000 a year. At his age and year of hire, he probably should have selected the rebalance plan, but he will never admit that.
I never said I didn’t like our union leadership. I like everyone one of them. Awesome guys, great to go party with, but they are not economic experts or professional negotiators. THE MARKET WILL DICTATE OUR NEXT CONTRACT. JW JY telling us in a video the company doesn’t understand how to build a successful airline is laughable. I love JW but give me a break, is he pulling from his vast experience running a lawn care operation in 2005.
I am absolutely worn out of the loud mouth Virgin pukes doging L-AS. We are the worst, have the worst schedules in the industry to include regionals, payed the worst, worst retirement, are the biggest bunch of pussies in the industry. So now I wait to be rescued by the most incredible pilot group in the world.

I can take them dude, you couldn’t pay my taxes from last year! This I promise you is true! You are a clueless angry little troll. I do like you apologizing to The Boeing side though, they are a great group, and have tried hard over the years gain as much as they could contract to contract.

We, the L-VX guys are not here to rescue anybody. What we hope for is that we, along with the growing number of L-AS pilots who have realized and are LIVING the deficiency of our contract, will be energized enough to counteract those of you who have no interest nor desire to secure meaningful improvements to it.
The only time a pilot should have 11-14 days off is if you are blocking hours in the HIGH 90s - meaning you wanna work hard!
ANY pilot blocking only 75 hours, you should be consistently getting 18 - 20 days Off!
This idea may sound foreign to you but it's not theory... it is the case at many airlines and was the case at VX. (RIP)

I am sure there are worst contracts out there but compared to our peers (we are a Legacy airline for Christ sakes!), we have a bad contract - in particular as it relates to Scheduling and Scope. It's also salt in the wound to know that there are many Regionals that have better Scheduling and QOL provisions. These facts are indisputable...

Wasting your energy, he clearly only cares about himself, thinks highly of himself and low of anyone else. Only his opinion on contracts, the industry, union leaders and Alaska management matter. Everyone one else is a puke, idiot, moron. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he only cares about his views and only his solutions are correct. Ignore his post, speak to your reps, worry about your Boeing and Airbus brothers and sisters that want something better. All we can do is stay engaged, united, and focus on 2020

I hate to agree with OTZ, but he’s right about the next contract being dictated by market conditions. It depends what economy we find ourselves in. Post 2001, 2008-2010? Forget it. 2015-2016 economy? Good times. Of course no one has a future predicting machine that is always accurate, but I do think this market has had its run and we are due for a downturn/crash in the next 1-3 yrs, right in time for 2020 contract. The good times bring good contracts. The bad times, everyone knows what happens. Just hope for the best I guess.
I can tell you when I had DeltaNet Access a while back and scrolled through Deta schedules on the 717, 737, 320, very little of them had 75 hrs with 18-20 days off. Most of their lines were 15-16 off and about 72-78 hrs. I’m sure that changes month by month, season by season. But we really need to forget the old VX route network (all transcons that guaranteed nearly 6.5 heading west, 5.5 heading east) because that’s gone. That was the main reason we were able to get lots of block hour flying in as little days as possible. They’ve made it clear the Airbus is going to be the north/south plane and as such, average daily values going to 5.x change. Plus the fatigue mitigation rules aren’t in the contract, but they don’t seem to be going away any time soon.

I'm back out of commenting on this thread unless addressed specifically, but I just wanted to say that the posts like this sure give off a weird vibe from the outside.
