No. When you list for JS with other carriers, they need the IATA code, which for Alaska is “AS.”

Another example, Southwest IATA is WN, ICAO is SWA.
ICAO codes are almost always three characters, IATA almost always two.

You use ICAO for things like flight plans. ASA is the ICAO code.

IATA is for interline business, nonrev, etc.

Never understood how this has been deemed fair for establishing seniority within a class. Should be completely random in my opinion.

How would you feel if you were the oldest in the class? Also, no matter what, you’ll be senior to the oldest guy in the next class

I’m not suggesting to reverse it, that'd be illegal I believe based on the age discrimination act. Just randomize it instead, draw from a deck of cards or something.

Nah, DoB is fair. Even if you're the youngest you'll still be the most senior person in your class the day you retire.

"Age discrimination" means discriminating against those who are older. There's no such thing as youth discrimination, although in some cases youth is a dis-qualifier and for good reason.

Expressjet did the last 4 of your SSN when I was there. DOB/SSN/Random... it's all pretty much the same.

Oldest guy in my large class. Randomly selected to be second most junior. Seniority lists always breed resentment. Human nature.
