True, but AS main problem (actually a benefit for many) are that all pilot bases touch the west coast waters. There is no option for Midwest or East coast commuters. All the other airlines mentioned have pilot bases spread across the country. In that sense, it’s a problem unique to AS and HAL.

Depends on your definition of SOL. I’d argue that by having no internals prompting AS to never call you would be a massive stroke of luck. Go to an airline that’s a good place to work. Haven’t you learned anything on this thread lol?

Keep in mind the poster…. He’s been here less time than me by a few months and has every opportunity to leave but claims he’s too far into it… thats a load of malarkey if I ever heard it. Just go if it’s so bad… 2nd year pay at UA/DL is equal to our 3rd year and only climbs from there. Really no excuse to not leave if it’s so awful.

Make face to face contact/zoom at hiring events and you’ll have a chance. As long as you’ve slogged and paid some dues, it ought to be recognized. If you cut corners and then show up kissing up, then you’ll be needing an internal rec.

Getting hired from Alaska to any of the real majors is no easy task like you imply. HR departments around the airline world have bought into the Alaska mystique. It is this uber hip, clever, love all place that no one would ever leave unless they are a trouble maker etc...For anyone trying to break the chains of Alaska focus on the”Why are you leaving” part of the interview. Much easier to hire an Allegiant, Sun Country, maybe Spirit and all RJ types...The cute little “dust of the old suit” “sharpen up the resume” colloquialisms are tiring and demonstrate considerable ignorance...This is not to say that a person shouldn’t try.

Wrong. People routinely leave for Delta, UA, and AA. Happened weekly pre pandemic, and is definitely going to gear up again now.
