Default Honest question for people stuck on reserve

Is an upgrade in 5-6 years but living with current contract for another two years, or much better work rules much quicker but hypothetically upgrades go back to 10 yrs? No agenda here.

I imagine we would have faster upgrades if we weren’t giving nearly all of our new flying away to SkyWest and Horizon.

Once SE Alaska flying goes to Horizon due to the lack of a scope clause in our contract we won’t have upgrades for a loooong time.

Pretty clear to me that scope is the most important and missing component to a long and lucrative career at AS.

Absolutely Scope is number one. Work rules and scheduling flexibility are next. Pref bid bring it on. Trusting guys who have used it to make sure its similar to whatever you had at VX. Not all of us AK guys are from the old guard. The union finally has leaders and look fwd to making this place a career and not a stepping stone.

As for my VX brethren. I get being ****ed and rightfully so. Lots of choices for applicants these days. The stuff written in this thread is true. But it is fixable. People will always come here. Problem is its not going to be what we are used to. Which in turn makes the job harder and a hell of a lot less fun.

PBS is just a computer program. Garbage in garbage out.

PBS is great with solid and comprehensive work rules. PBS with our current set of work rules? No thanks. We will be working much, much more.

Scope and work rules are the only things I care about. The pay will come with an upgrade and that will only come with scope and work rules.

Unequivocally false. PBS is a pairing selector. Nothing more.

I swear AS pilots who don't know how PBS works shouldn't be qualified to speak about how it would affect schedules.

Have you ever worked for an airline using PBS?

Luckily that has never been on the table and never will be.

We were lucky at VX they sparingly used the “ignore crew member threshold after pilot XX” option.

Everyone works near the annual maximum anyway. Ain't no squeezing more blood from this stone.
