I call BS. The junior OF line holder (SEA-737), has been on property less than a year and held a line with 190 TAFB. Next crappy OF line was 160hrs TAFB and 14 calendar days off. Accumulating TAFB is literally how you make money at any ACMI or even FedEx. Longer the trip = more $$$
This place ain’t perfect, and reserve blows a$$ 10 ways to Sunday around here. The 5, 6, or 7 day trips, all hand built with zero regard to fatigue mitigation, and whatever can be imagineered with Open Time trips by the minions stuck between the rock and a hard place at Angle lake. So unless you’re on reserve, which is short lived these days…
The difference in QOL between LH/OF and RSV blew my mind. You either ain’t been here very long or just you prefer to get off on b!tchin and complaining.

If you're thinking of coming to work at Alaska Airlines a short back turn is a red eye flight followed by minimum rest day sleep at a hotel. Some are better than others. I got stuck with the BOS ones. Which were awful. There is a nice Hilton at the airport but we had to drive to Chelsea which took a long time during the morning commute. The hotel wasn't great. Some liked it because you could walk to a grocery store but it was the last thing I wanted to do after a red eye. There was no way to get food at the hotel and when I pointed that out on "crew care" I was told I could purchase an item from the pantry. Which were "Hungry Man" frozen meals at 100% markup.
To each their own but I'm flying 290 hour TAFB flying lines at 5+ years seniority so I don't have to fly red eye short backs with day rest. They certainly aren't for everyone. We all are not as tough as you I guess, Sug ma dic.

So the conundrum is I have been hired both at Alaska and Kalitta. Pros about Alaska is its a very stable legacy with fun domestic flying and a good growth projection almost doubling in size, I also live 15 minutes from LAX. Pros about Kalitta is home based and flying heavies all over the world with quite an adventure with excellent pay.
