Apparently sharing honest feedback isn’t welcome around here, even when acknowledging how good we have it. I guess it would be better if no one said anything and Alaska sits there wondering why they have recruiting and attrition problems.
At least your sentiment should quell the outrage of people on here that Alaska is hiring anyone with a pulse.

I am assuming you are coming from a corporate background with those type ratings. The airlines normally seem to take their time with corporate guys. It took them a while to get in touch with me coming from a corporate background and I feel like I am fairly experience compared to most other applicants. Even so, it took a couple months to hear back. Coming from the corporate world, I think it is almost a requirement to have the ATP (Not written) to set yourself apart.

One of the number one things I have heard about the current hiring climate is people think the job is theirs and are not properly preparing because of the hiring climate. If you do not get a call back from an airline, with your years of experience, there are multiple corporate operators hiring straight into the left seat. When I started looking around, I was offered some very good jobs directly into the left seat for an aircraft I was not typed in.

If you don’t mind me asking, what is your total time and turbine PIC time? I think those are big factors when applying for job with large airlines coming from the corporate world.

Im just wondering why one without an ATP would be surprised to not get a call, even in this day and age. I know times are easy, but, really?

Edit: it’s cool that you have so many type ratings and massive experience, but your butthurt is not felt by the vast majority of those currently flying for most airlines. Best of luck.

Double Edit: When they do hire you and you find yourself in an Alaskan 737, don’t bring up your storied career flying the Challenger. Nobody cares.

If this sounds harsh, it’s not the intent. But, why no ATP? I realize it’s not technically a requirement for us anymore. Listed as “preferred”, but if I’m looking at your resume and you have the time and type ratings you say- it would almost be a red flag. At a minimum, it doesn’t look like you’re serious about the job. Maybe I’m out of touch with the current job market…but that’s my honest feedback.

Reality is that it's very rare to find an experienced professional turbine pilot without an ATP. Even in 91, insurance is a factor. I can imagine circumstances where it could happen, just not needed at the gigs you wound up in but at face value on internet forums it looks like low experience. Also when applying to any top or second tier major it almost goes without saying that you should get the ATP, unless they specifically offer a CTP program like the regionals.

Correct.

My next question would be, with all those types—how much PIC in each one?

Idk what’s worse. Not just paying for the ATP which would probably garner offers from the big 3. Applying and going all in on…. wait for it…. Alaska Airlines.🥴🥴🥴

A few questions: Long shot here but, would I be competitive if I applied from the most well known fractional company with only 1,500 total, 500 SIC turbine, but no turbine PIC? Or does AS look for more total time and/or turbine PIC? Yes, I have an ATP...

If not, what are competitive minimums currently?

Are SEA trips commutable?

How easy/difficult would the commute from BOI be?

Thanks!

How is seniority in class determined? Is it based on DOB or is it based on something else?
