That is a really dumb take. You forget how well that worked out for US/HP?

I'm suggesting a coordinated JCBA+SLI, where they compliment each other, and everybody knows what they're getting into. Not suggesting SLI first.
Plus the US East pilot group had some pretty toxic attitudes, for a variety of reasons. I *think* our two groups can get along much better.
In this case HA pilots are getting (presumably) industry standard rates and improved fiscal/career stability. AS pilots, as things stand now, are getting risk, both seniority/career and also exposure to industry dynamics in the international market. All I'd like is some assurance that I don't get an SLI spanking that reverberates for so long that I'm retired before I see an ROI on this thing. Or money to make up for that is fine too... cash on the barrel-head now affords a lot of flexibility later on.

Staunch pessimism isn't a strategy either, yet here you are. There is at least one aircraft in flight test and at least 3 getting ready to flight test. The delivery schedule is very close to being back to projected.

We should be fighting for well above industry standard NB rates and work rules, to compensate for the suck that’s coming our way.

Exactly, this merger presents no benefit to the Alaska group. It’s laughable that we’re getting told this is a win because we get to pick and choose a few more favorable work rules from a below industry standard contract. Or because wIDe BoDiEs, which will be fenced and cost us un-proportional seniority losses.

Speaking with a UAL pilot recently: they are hiring 1200 this year and the 737 upgrade is less than a year in SFO. Anyone who could stand to live in the SF Bay could do very well for themselves making this choice.
