You have seats in seniority order and bid for your base in the morning of the first day.

July 17 class had 2 LAX positions and 10 Seattle.

Thanks for the info. Did they mention or have you heard which bases will continue to be junior in the foreseeable future and how long people are sitting reserve in LAX or Seattle?

No idea about future base distribution. Sounds like LAX will continue to be junior, about 3 months to a line. Seattle about a year.

It takes about a year and a half to get the Portland base, which is getting to be more and more senior, especially among FO's.

There are people who were in the pool that for the CJO this past January and February who took jobs at other majors while sitting in the pool. But they're not just no-showing. They're notifying AS that they won't be showing to class in advance.

Thanks...

We have actually had no-shows in the past. It's definitely an unprofessional way of doing things, but it does happen every now and then.

When I started I was an alternate in case someone notified them they were not coming. I think they are still doing that to make sure the classes are full.

Also, yes is is about 10 months to get off reserve in Seattle and that is from your first day. So really only 7 months of being an FO. That will come down if hiring continues. There were only a few classes after me before the 4 month break.

Not unprofessional at all....Simply giving back to Alaska what they have given to so many. I applaud those that make choices with no regrets... Serves them right

If you are holding a line as a new-hire, after only three months in LAX, that means reserve is going somewhat senior. Guys would rather do reserve than hold a regular line or an open-flying line. The lines stink enough for guys to deliberately choose reserve instead, at least during off-peak months. When the lines stink, the open flying lines stink worse. So, probably a lots of all-nighters, low-time trips, and sits-

There's a reason LAX is a junior base, the red-headed b@stard stepchild. There is no life south of Seattle. ****e rolls down hill and LA is south of Seattle.
