If we can't find a way to grow the airline in good economic conditions, how will we fare when things get bad? I see no no hope for our current management. There is no will to be the best or grow.
Spirit or Frontier would be a better choice now for those who can't get hired at a legacy. Their contracts are superior in every way. But I'm sure when we try to hire management will still sell it based on being home every night. Which can be gone with a keystroke. Wise pilots will look at the whole picture. If they continue on this path we will have to hire the bottom of the barrel just to get meat in the seats with low experience and skeletons. That should be fun babysitting on a blizzard approach into Fargo.

If they plan to keep this airline they better do something to fix it now before it gets out from under them. Attrition is picking up. Economic instability is coming. Competition is creeping in. The stock has tanked. Their attention is on hotels and go karts.

If they plan to sell it they should while its still worth something.

Maybe wait until tomorrow and the investor call to see.

Those investors asked some tough questions last time. I expect tomorrow should be enlightening.

Exactly! I would be surprised (I have been before) if we hear anything of substance tomorrow. They get to use the "the transition just finished" excuse to push everything to next quarter's investor call. The Q1 2019 call will be WAY more interesting (most likely). They can't use the transition as an excuse to not answer questions during that one.

If they were waiting until closer to the end of the transition to make any big announcements, I'd say that ship has sailed. If major expansion were in the cards, that sort of thing takes months to implement. Any remaining transition guys will likely be done by June. I'm guessing no growth for this summer since they would have to start selling tickets already.

In the last town hall they stated we were over staffed and planned on growing into our pilot count and also balance staffing with attrition. Judging from the companies own daily departure numbers, it would seem as though they plan on balancing staffing with attrition. If you're junior and have a clean record with no DUI's, I'd head for the exits as fast as you can.

I won't be waiting around for that train wreck. The company has shown it's lack of interest in running a growing airline. Between the constant disregard for our contract and no hope of growing beyond a dirtbag outfit, I've had my fill of this place. I'll be hitting job fairs again. There is no better time than now to get to your dream airline. MG has no plans of making this dumpster fire respectable.

But, what if I am already at my dream airline? (just not with the dream management or contract)

The company is still making good money and we still grew flights at a 10% rate last year, things aren't that bad on a business front.

If MG and the gang don't want to run an airline (which probably won't come until the Sunseekers are up and running AND making a profit), then they will spin it off and we'll merge with someone else.

Would it still be your dream airline if we started doing overnights or you got displaced out of your base?

We put up with way too much crap here just to be home every night.

Nope! I'd be at Delta or United, making 30% more for comparable equipment.

No one is FORCING you to put up with anything. Feel free to leave if the level of BS is too high. For me, it hasn't gotten to the top of my boots yet. If it does, it will be a different story. Until then, I will work to make things better here in order to make it more of my dream job. If the BS wins the battle, I'll leave. If it doesn't, everyone here will be happier because we fought to make it better.

Glad to hear you are guaranteed that job at DAL or UAL. I'm too close to retirement to go anywhere Mr Ray of Sunshine. And senior enough CA to not have to worry about it. I'm just here because I'm bored and because I know management reads this.

One of the worst things in this industry is telling people to leave. My point is that we can't keep accepting less in the contract because we're home every night. You missed that point as usual. I probably won't be around when you guys get the next one but you should think about the big picture. What we do now can't last forever. Once overnights become the norm and bases spread out more we will just be another ULCC with a much crappier contract. And your dream job may never come like many of us who were at the wrong place wrong time our whole career.
