You technically don’t have to work for the company to apply for the chief pilot slot. I’m no company man but I hear the union preaching about negotiating into next year… if they have all this leverage there’s no reason this goes past fall. The union is full of **** just as much as the company is. Greg U has no Intention of getting us a contract anytime soon and the company will give us what we want when they’re ready.. if Greg U allows it

I don't buy this because the 2 pilots in there negotiating for us have the utmost integrity. If what your saying is true about the trustee's motives, the others would step down, which is exactly what happened last time with the old exco.

I don't think this will happen because it appears the NC & GU are on the same page as far as going through the scheduling, hours of service, and reserve sections line by line in an attempt to achieve industry-leading language. IOW they're doing exactly what AR was doing.

doing exactly what AR was doing?… As in not getting us a contract? I want to see where this leverage is and where this force of the international teamsters is that Greg U keeps talking about

there is no leverage. No threat of self help. We wasted 3 years of negotiations with AR. The clock is just starting for us. No way NMB comes close to releasing us anytime soon after the bs AR pulled.

Then the one time there was momentum the union fired the lead negotiator and spread rumors that he was secretly AR’s spy. Don’t forget this is our fourth NC in 2024. That is not gonna impress the NMB when the teamsters ask to be released.

We also have GU threatening us with our health insurance, Assistant trustees speaking directly to the media about management’s concessionary bargaining, all the while ULCCs are being destroyed. Oh and there’s no where to apply that is hiring. Would love for GU to explain where this magical leverage is coming from.

UA is hiring currently and will be back to 2500+ next year (2025)

With the sheer number of PRIA requests going through management has got to be concerned. Arguably it’ll be a contract negotiation like we have never seen before. Either management gives the pilot group a massive win or they hold out and nothing gets done. If nothing gets done pilots won’t come here and you’ll see the nations most profitable airline eat itself alive in a very short period of time. Just my guess though!

im afraid we’ve traded one dictator for another.

I believe he’s right, UAL has not cancelled class dates or paused hiring. Every other airline has. So there’s that for leverage, one other airline is hiring - for now. With the conflict in the Middle East UAL has already stopped long hauls to the region.

In any event, there is nothing on the horizon that will create the leverage we need. GU is overplaying his hand and we shouldn’t be surprised, it’s as if people here so stupid that they don’t remember that he negotiated our current contract.
