Is anybody else as shocked as I am that the company has completely lost interest in negotiations now that summer travel is wrapping up? Let me guess, we’ll be “close” again as we approach the holiday season, then unable to work it out. We’ll be even “closer” as we head towards spring break season. Almost there….any day now!

Pilots seem willing to give up a lot to sleep in their own bed and drive to work every day. I admit I enjoyed it for a long time but I realized that my time is getting short and there's a lot of money being left on the table. Especially in retirement. Got when the getting was good. |

The company sent a comprehensive proposal and said that they wanted a deal by June 30th. Union chose not to pass back anything more then bullet points on scheduling, I believe nothing on reserve or compensation was sent back. Union says they only are going to prepare what the mediator tells them to. The Union can spin it however they want but it seems to me that they were not even interested in asking for anything??? I am upset that they wouldn’t even pass sections back. WTF???

It still baffles me how many guys at G4 couldn’t (or wouldn’t) see over the horizon at how this was all going to play out with Maury. Many who are friends are finally seeing the error of their ways but sickened realizing they gave up 4,000+ seniority numbers and less than 2 year upgrades at a legacy carrier of their choice just “to be home every night.” Once I saw behind the G4 curtain in late 2021, I tried to convince and take as many with me when I left. Thankfully some did.

Going to all of my kids events etc. I would rather do that then hang out with different crews on a 4 to 6 day pairing. I know, super shocking. I don’t want to go to a legacy and upgrade, I would be trading my time at home for not much more money. You chose your way and I chose mine but to act like I’m not as smart of you infantile. I just put my value in wealth in something different than you. In the end we will both be fine.

What is wrong with these pilots that move on to other airlines & fail to just move on. They have to come back and bash their former coworkers for not wanting to follow them to the bottom of a legacy seniority list. Go for it if that's your dream job. Makes sense for a lot of young pilots. I'll just point out that many, including myself, value seniority. I'll stick with my afternoon out-and-backs and look forward to our next contract, which will come.

It's really up to the individual & nobody's business. As long as you understand the tradeoffs, and realize a day trip schedule, or something close to it, is doable at a legacy (if you're willing to live in their domicile) and are willing to roll the dice on the longevity of your Allegiant base, go for it. |
