After hearing horror stories about this place i have decided to stay at my current company. I work for small charter company and even they provided lodging and pay when i went for initial training out in Dallas for three weeks. I believe this is a situation where the grass is not greener on the otherside. Thankyou for everyones input.

I am happy to see people turning down class dates,they called me for an interview and I said TBNT. The 60k pay cut and paying for my own accommodations, plus airfare to the interview was a little more then I could stomach. Hope for the best for all the Allegiant guys, you all are getting hosed by the typical management in this country, racing to the bottom. WTH are they teaching these morons in HR and Management now days. I have about had it with the way these companies, including my current employer keep changing the rules and expect loyalty, until they show a two way street of loyalty I will fly low and fast and burn some gas, accountability goes both ways. Burn it to the ground if they don't play. Good Luck to the Allegiant pilot group.

American gives you more than $2,000 per month and a free hotel during training. American Airlines second year pay is also almost $20 per hour higher and has way better travel benefits. They also have a higher MMG and better retirement. You can't even begin to compare American to Allegiant. My regional is actually better by far in many ways. I'm going to wait for something better. I can't take care of a family of 4 on Allegiant pay. I'm sure pay at Allegiant would be good down the road. I need better money than they can offer today though.

HR is pretty much run by Ford and Harrison Law Firm these days. Research them.

Lets hope they really fix everything too. Last time it was shut down for weeks. When it was finally "fixed" I had a PC. I couldn't believe it when I got in the sim and once again, I had to tap every darn button on the FGCP and TRP to get it to light up so I could see what button I was pushing, and the auto spoilers didn't work for awhile, and the seat belts didn't work, and generally everything still glitched out here and there so I wasn't sure if it was a "simulated" failure or a simulator failure. In all fairness though, it was exactly like a day at work, the only thing missing was the dispatch paperwork with errors in the TLR, wrong aircraft number, missing MELs, and random incorrect notes like "non RVSM" while being dispatched at 33,000 feet, the usual daily routine.

I know I've said this before, but reading that many are not taking the job (or even the interview) makes me positively giddy with excitement. You folks are doing us a HUGE service by not sacrificing your self-respect in order to log some MD-80 time. The only type of pilot I could even fathom wanting to come here would be a single 25 year old with a tote and futon as possessions and a month-to-month lease on an apartment (living with Mom and Dad is a plus). To anyone thinking of applying or interviewing, please do yourself a favor and stay put. This industry is about to bust wide open and there will be tons of better opportunities out there. To those who will be starting class next week, I wish you luck but I have a feeling that you haven't the faintest clue what you're in for.

I had spoke with a new hire and he seemed to imply that all accommodations were paid for during training. I will ask him to clarify. I'm less concerned about that compared to the lack of support when dispatched to fly with less than acceptable support. I just spoke with a friend at Spirit today and he couldn't say enough good things about how the company has treated him through training and now on the line. I hate that I could sit reserve at home with Allegiant out of about 4 bases.
