Is Allegiant currently hiring pilots

I know I've said this before, but reading that many are not taking the job (or even the interview) makes me positively giddy with excitement. You folks are doing us a HUGE service by not sacrificing your self-respect in order to log some MD-80 time. The only type of pilot I could even fathom wanting to come here would be a single 25 year old with a tote and futon as possessions and a month-to-month lease on an apartment (living with Mom and Dad is a plus). To anyone thinking of applying or interviewing, please do yourself a favor and stay put. This industry is about to bust wide open and there will be tons of better opportunities out there. To those who will be starting class next week, I wish you luck but I have a feeling that you haven't the faintest clue what you're in for.

That was confusing. Are you implying that the TWA/AA folks are not in support of our union? If so, I beg to differ. Of course I welcome our new pilots but unfortunately, the time from "happy new hire" to "buyer's remorse" is growing shorter and shorter. Management will be more inclined to secure a first IBT contract with us if there weren't hundreds of pilots lining up to work here. It's simple supply and demand. When I was hired several years ago, nobody else was hiring so the choices were limited. With the way things are going (or will be), I just fail to see the appeal of this place for a new hire.

What's the timeframe from phone interview to getting a face to face (or TBNT)? They said HR would get back to me within a week, so far it's been 8 days. Just tryin' to plan ahead.
And yes, Im aware of the problems here... But considering Im at a regional that's parking airplanes...

Good news!!
The open time for the last two weeks of the month is down to only 7 pages!
On another note, most of the newhire class from January is being paid to sit at home still. Most of them haven't started the sim yet. That's $500/week on training pay.

I think they tried to use AA sims once and it didn't work out or something. The last August class was sent to Higher Power to get their types when we couldn't do them and the sim was down. Pan Am in LAS bought an ex-AA sim and is currently rebuilding the panel to match our configuration. From what I've heard, the AA sim is all classic/analog and has the single Universal FMS so they're pulling all that out and putting all our stuff in. Haven't heard an ETA of when that may be up and running.
I think AAs 80s are all 81s and 82s. Same airframe just different instruments and probably engines. All ours are 83s and 88s. The 82s were bumped to 83s I believe by swapping the -217s for the -219s.
