Hey everyone! Applied last night and got an email about a video interview 🙂 I think it has me answer 5 questions. Does anyone have any idea what these questions are? Obviously I want to do the best I can and be as prepared as much as possible. Thanks ahead of time!

Dont know but any candidate for any job, in or outside of aviation, should be prepared to answer 3 general questions-

1) Tell us about yourself
2) Why do you want to work here
3) Why should we hire you over someone else

1)BLI (you will never have it as a captain, you may possibly be the most Jr. FO. Just don't be a carpetbagger and take it just because you want the bus, lots of NW guys have been screwed by dumb pilots who were "too scared" to fly the -80 so they took a base they'd never even heard of)
2)SFB
3)IWA
4)PIE
5)LAX (senior for captains, Jr. for FO but most people are there because they want to be)
6)LAS
7)FLL
8)PGD
9)CVG
10)OAK (small base but very jr)
11)AVL
12)VBD
13)PIT (quickest Airbus upgrade)

This is mostly my opinion, the actual assignments of pilots may be slightly different, this also changes frequently. As we add planes and bases this all gets mixed up pretty good. Best advice is move to your base if you can or bid VBD if you can't.
Also to add to this, it's probably safe to say that upgrade times are due to go up, way up. They're probably sitting at about 2 years or more on the bus at the moment, and about 1 - 1.5 on the 80. Our pilot group is super young though, so beware the 10 year upgrade probably happening sometime in the next 5 years. My .02 but I'd say the stats support it. We're supposed to grow, but by hundreds (maybe 1000), not by thousandS. (5 yr outlook). Lets hope I'm incorrect!

Third quarter and full year 2016 cost trends

• Third quarter 2016 CASM ex fuel - CASM ex fuel is expected to increase between four and six percent versus the same period last year, primarily driven by the implementation of the new pilot agreement
• Full year CASM ex fuel - CASM ex fuel is expected to remain between zero and an increase of four percent for the full year - the incremental cost of the new pilot agreement that goes into effect on August 1, 2016, is mostly offset by the effect of the capitalization of Airbus major maintenance costs
• Airbus major maintenance costs
◦ Third quarter 2016 payments for Airbus major maintenance is expected to be $1.5 million
◦ Full year 2016 payments for Airbus major maintenance is expected to be slightly above $17.0 million and amortized over an average of 4.5 years
• Maintenance and repairs expense - Maintenance and repair expense per in service aircraft per month is expected to be between $105 and $115 thousand for full year 2016
• Total ownership expense per aircraft per month - Full year 2016 ownership expense per in service aircraft per month is expected to remain between $100 and $110 thousand

I put my favorite part in bold. I thought a contract was death by a 1000 paper cuts, certain bankruptcy for the company, can't be afforded, not in the DNA......

Looks like the NC isn't getting much time off.

Good point however, lots of the 2015/2016 hires are on the FSP for failures, among other performance and attitude issues. Unfortunately we were getting A LOT of people incapable of upgrade. That will change now but if you were hired today I would expect 18-36 month upgrade depending on growth, new bases, rate of -80 retirement, etc. Too many variables to say it will increase by a lot. FO pay is pretty good now and many will stay as senior FO's that may have upgraded before.

A fair rebuttal. Time will tell; but to those trying to come here sometime in the next year or two, be weary of the promises of fast upgrades, it's a 50/50 shot.

I dont think you can necessarily look at seniority as a whole here. You almost need to look at it as each domicile as its own seperate airline. One city might have a 10 year upgrade, another has a 10 month upgrade. Although there are a few hundred people ahead of me on the senioriry list, I really only concern myself with about 40 of them.

What kind of times/background do you have?
