Thanks!
The current FO plug in BLI is a September 2017 hire. While G4 has the provisions for long call it is currently not being used by the company. Right now we only use short call reserve with a 90 minute callout. I think BLI is a relatively stable base with a niche market of Canadiens that drive across the border to fly G4 to points south. As mentioned by others, we are in a hiring freeze until the transition to Airbus is complete. I think you’ll be in the competitive ballpark by the time we start hiring again.

The demographics of BLI are such that a new-hire, when hiring resumes, might get in, but advancement to senior FO and then captain will probably be the slowest in the company. Unless they expand the base, which doesn't seem to be part of the plan.....

Default New hire class

Hi Guys,

Since Allegiant is starting a new base & adding more flights, does this mean they will start a new-hire class soon? Thank you.

They will but ther main focus is getting all of the MD80 folks trained on the Airbus by the end of the year, hence the slow down in hiring.

There are 37 MDs left as of this month. They are all slated to be gone by the end of this year. No word on when hiring will resume. Stay tuned.

Senior for CAs junior for FOs. Most new hire classes have spots there. Small base with large seasonal shifts in flying.

With the seasonal shifts in flying, can your base change at company discretion? I am curious b/c I may like to apply once hiring resumes, LAX would be my hopeful/preferred base. However, I don't understand these virtual bases and am a bit hesitant because they seem like they might dip into the pocket book a bit too much...

The point of our VBD pilots (virtually based) are to cover seasonal shifts in flying. Right now for example we have a lot of VBD pilots in LAS as the transition from MD80 to Airbus has a lot of guys in training. This summer I’m sure we’ll have a bunch in Myrtle Beach for example. This is generally how staffing levels are controlled across the system. Usually, they don’t grow and shrink bases with permanent vacancies. Occasionally, if they need to they may voluntary/involuntary TDY someone for a month.
