Any insight as to how classes toward the end of the year are normally scheduled? We start indoc the first week of October and trying to get a feel for potential training dates. Questions: Do they train over Thanksgiving or Christmas? If not, is it likely that training dates could be after the new year?

Thanks!

Expect ground training and sims to begin approx 3-5 weeks after completion of Basic Indoc. Airplanes fly on Thanksgiving and Christmas...and the sim building does too.

Sounds good! We are up for it just trying to figure out expectations. I'd also heard there was a bunch of recurrent training toward the end of the year and wasn't sure how that impacted initial training flow. Gracias!

Do you still get paid while waiting for ground and sims?

Yes. You’ll get MALV which is about 82 hours a month until you finish training and are either awarded reserve or a line.

When did it go to MALV? That's great to see, when I went through it was LC pay. Do you mind showing me where that is in the contract or the LOAs? I must have missed that one....which isn't too far off.

6.B.d. A pilot in Qualification Training (i.e. initial, upgrade or transition training) for an entire contractual month will be paid the MALV for the pilot's bid status.

I think you have to have enough seniority to be a lineholder in order to get MALV. But you should have been able to get short call pay instead of long call. 76 vs 73.
