The reduced hiring number is probably because there is going to be a huge training backlog when they park 30 MD-80s and 6 E-190s in Oct. There are over 350 on the MD-80. It will take a few months to get them trained. I'd guess they'll hire as many as they can before Oct then reduce hiring while they train the MD80 guys.

On the captain side 46 can hold group 4 CA in DFW 57 can hold 767 CA in DFW. 90 can hold 767 in PHL. All of them can hold group 4 FO in DFW. All of them can hold group 2 CA in DFW.
I have no idea how many of them commute but many may have better options in bases other than DFW. I'd have to assume there are still quite a few commuting from STL that may want to go to ORD.
