Allegedly. Curious what the Max grounding will do for the numbers.

So about 8% of the 737 fleet? Must be quite the attrition rate!

Question regarding the 190 and withholding.

Say you get hired in April, awarded 190. In May there is a bid with effective date of September.

You are awarded bus or 737 in whatever base. They decide to withold you obviously. Does your 9-12 months start from bid effective date September, or your 6 month seat lock, which I guess would be October?

Must be a part of an award that includes an effective date no earlier than 6 full months from DOH. Until then you are only given an entitlement (which helps you get an actual new award in future when no longer locked in). Once you actually get the award. Planning will tell you how long to expect to be withheld. That amount of time they tell you starts from effective date of what you were awarded. Many time they release you early also, fyi.

Using your example. If the award was only through September, you would only get an entitlement. You would need to wait for the next vacancy announcement to bid on that.

Hope that explains it

Regarding an entitlement. What does that mean exactly?

Would it be the same if you just didn’t bid and waited until your 6 month lock was up to bid? Or does the entitlement give you anything extra?

When awarded an entitlement, it just means that you would have priority over non-entitlement pilots, when determining who receives an actual vacancy award. So if you had an entitlement to Bos 737 Fo, on the next vancancy awards if their was an actual vacancy still for bos 737 fo, you would actually have priority over someone more senior than you (who does not hold that entitlement right) .
Entitlement awards come out about a week after vacancy awards.
