Not really. I experienced all of the above and more flying 135/91. Honestly, the operators are the problem not the pilots, there's always some bad apples mixed in.

How long is the seat lock for a new hire? Do many folks bid off their initial assigned aircraft ASAP to get into something else? With the big difference in 2d year pay for 190 does that cause a lot of movement in that fleet? I know that is the case at Jet Blue just curious how it is played at AA. Thanks.

Initial seat lock is 6 months for a NH. seems everyone who was awarded 73 and 190 in recent past has been withheld for 9-12 months. When the plan to remove the 190s they released a lot of people before the 12 month lock. But, now it’s staying so I’m sure they will continue to keep 190 pilots especially the capts on the plane. They pay you your withhold pay. Which is how many capts are making insane amounts of money.
Movement was great and should continue on 190 and 73 in lax and lga. think most folks off rsv after 2 or 3 months. Your 2nd lock is for 24 months unless you take your 1st upgrade. in that case you can go after 6 months.

I read a few pages back there are forced upgrades to the -190. How does that work? I just passed the video interview and am relatively young ~30, and am just starting to think about my bidding strategy should I be offered a class date.

Anyone like to shed some light on this...

I keep hearing as a New Hire FO the E190 in PHL is the plane that gives you the fastest seniority gain allowing you to get a relatively decent schedule (soon after training) much sooner than other Equipments with Weekends & Holidays OFF compared to having to be stuck on Reserve (on-call) on the 737/Airbus.
Any truth to this??

For us New Hires that have to commute wanting a set flying schedule & NOT sit in a crashpad on a Reserve (on-call) Schedule would it be more ideal to do the E190 in PHL or 737/Airbus?

Assume if on Reserve (on-call) on the 737/Airbus in New York (LGA) are we responsible to transporting ourself to cover trips flying out of all 3-Airports (LGA/EWR/JFK) ?

Isn't that a pain in the neck with the constant New York traffic congestion, rush hour and not to mention the out-of-pocket cost for the numerous Taxi/Uber expenses ?

Thanks in advance

The 737/320 in LGA offers quick movement and short reserve time as well. The most junior lineholder on the 737 in LGA has the same seniority as the most junior lineholder on the 190. The 320 in LGA is slightly more senior, but not by much. It's still a short time on reserve.

But yes, you're absolutely right. Covering 3 airports is definitely undesirable compared to covering a single airport in PHL.

I had 2 months on reserve 320 / LGA this summer before having a line. Might have been one of I wasn't pbs retarded. A friend Junior to me had one that month.

My crystal ball says AA gets more 100 seat aircraft. There was a reason they flew the Dash8s for so long. they just pump out money at a very low operating cost.
Wow ! Getting paid 98 hours with only 8 nights away from home (assuming 22 Nights at home)... That’s amazing !

Is it easier to get more nights at home on the E190 ?

I’m sorry to hear that ! Never fun to give up +20% of your relative seniority.

I think most that bid off get withheld which allows them to get the higher pay. Many opportunities for overtime while at the higher rate.
I heard the same story from a AA crew last week. I wouldn’t mind getting 777 Captain pay while spending +18 nights at home.
