1 option. Thats it. Offline, online, it doesnt matter. You wont be paid if you miss but we all know that so most people have a backup plan. Personally, I have not had a backup a few times, it really depends on loads/weather. If there are a ton of seats and the weather is good and a backup causes me to have to leave a lot earlier then I dont sweat the backup. If the loads are crazy and/or the weather sucks then I might have 8 backup plans. I have never missed but it is my understanding you probably wont even be called unless in NYC. even then, so what.

I am pretty sure we have the best commuter policy out there

Yeah it's pretty good. As a professional commuter myself I work it the same way you do. Sometimes it makes sense to have a couple backups, sometimes you wing it and go with the flight that gets in 5 prior to show...

But our commute policy is awesome. Plus the ability to book the JS.

In theory you could fly 80 hours as a line holder in about 18 consecutive days. 14-15 days of flying with a few days off in there for FAR 117. Just bid the last 10 days off and whittle it down as you move through the layers. Also, use the "maximize string of days off" property.

I did this once, so it is possible. Front loaded my flying into the first 20 days of May and then back loaded my June flying into the last 20 days so as to take a 20-day vacation that straddled May and June. I will tell you that flying a full month in about 18 days is pretty fatiguing.

If you're on reserve, it's much tougher to do.

I could find it in the following 14 pages of scheduling, but for PBS is there a way for someone to work say 16-17 day work block them be off for the rest of the month?

Or does PBS always finds a way to spread your trips across the month, regardless of seniority?

Thanks

Problem is the pbs work block length max of 6. You could do 6, day off, 6 more, day off; etc. a 3 day pays @16hrs so 6 days is 32hrs. You will be in the 3rd work block to solve pbs (seniority dependent). Low seniority you would be high 80hrs so: 6 on, 1 off, 6 on, 1 off, 4-5 on. Done. Higher seniority you will be 77ish hours so 6,1,6,1,3.
Easier said than done during pbs bidding

Post pbs:
with trip trading and trip that has a 30hr layover you smash trips together for a longer work block POST pbs award. I do this sometimes.

English, do I even speak it?? Hopefully you get what I was trying to say

Not 16-17 straight, but 6 on 1 off and repeat as needed then the rest of the month off. You have to comply with FAR rules. On reserve, one can bid 6 on 1 off, 6 on 2 off, 6 on rest of the month off, that’s actually my preferred bid, when I sit reserve. I’ve done both of these scenarios.

Do you find yourself getting more days not flying that way? I am thinking about doing that same thing.
