Yes, that is a valid point but... UA was planning to hire ~1200 in 2020 also. Just saying saying that a lot could change in the next month or eve 2 weeks. Hopefully this will be forgotten by most by the end of March.

I'm was waiting for a class date at UAL. But it's important to time my exit and entrance to the next step in my career. UAL seems to be unorganized and unreliable. Not feeling it anymore and don't want to chance getting boned. Is AA likely to stop hiring any time soon? If you get a Class Date at AA is it pretty solid?

60 Souls started indoc this morning in DFW, just saying.

That will be even less flying.

I wasn’t sure how the company would react to the virus panic, but based on the August vacancy and forecasts, 787 staffing is increasing for the foreseeable future. New routes to New Zealand, India, and Tel Aviv start later this year so I guess the company is taking the long view, for now. That’s good.

Side note: I don’t miss Scott Kirby at all. It’s just a shame they had to pay him to leave.

At the end of the day they’re a business and if passengers aren’t booking flights airplanes won’t be flying. People are getting worked up into a real frenzy over this. Probably going to be a brutal year for the travel industry.

Personally I've only seen full flights domestically, though YMMV

By this time next month all this panic will be over and fake news will be talking about a new crisis.

Can you imagine that meeting:

"Hey let's take the runner up at our competition and put him in charge of our company?"

New Mission Statement: Second Place is good enough.
