Furlough Estimates

Look, I get it - it’s not great being crammed into a tube during COVID. And I also understand that passenger perception is all that matters when it comes to AA’s ability to get me paid. But tone matters too, and your initial post certainly didn’t make it sound like you were interested in having a discussion about it.

So you understand that we have no control over this, yet you come into the thread anyway to tell us that we’re your last option (even though we’re one of many that have given up on the social distancing charade)? How is that anything *but* whining?

you are our least favorite airline to fly because of the lack of social distancing ( ie full middle seats ) on your flights, only Delta and SWA are doing it right, we are pushing our travel department to give preference to them, I hope you don’t furlough anyone, and come out of this intact ( I have many friends who work at AA) , but in the meantime I have no desire to fly on you while your present practices continue. Cheers.

I apologize for my tone , in actuality I was venting a bit , but I am rooting for you guys like I stated I have a lot of brothers and sisters ( former freight dogs ) flying for American , and wish them and you well , I just would like the experience when I’m DHing on you all to be a bit less intimate . Cheers , sincerely.

not whining Einstein, just a customer voicing an opinion. Not out of the blue , I was perusing the thread and voicing a concern, I know as pilots you (we)have zero impact on decisions made many levels above your pay grade , but thanks for making my decision on who to fly on easier ,cheers .

You are essentially admitting his post is correct and yet still holding on to your complaints about the middle seat?
Spreading these opinions(I’m sure you have mentioned this stuff to your family who then tell friends and it runs from from there) will most certainly contribute to increasing furlough numbers at whichever airlines decide to furlough.
Here’s a short summary on what I gleaned from your post:
“I know it’s impossible to social distance on an airplane Given the measurements between seats I was presented with but it just “feels better” when the middle seat is empty. I’m going to push my company to book away from American or any other airline that fills middle seats.”
I’ll come back in a few months and let you know how it “feels” to be furloughed.
