That’s because the rest can take a reduction of hours (which saves furloughs). There would be no furloughs if Delta pilots allowed a lower ALV.

Tell that to my peers, I’m up for it. I’m lazy and can live with 40-50hrs of pay a month. Not everyone is willing to lower the ALV. I would take a year off if we get payed 50-55hrs to stay home.

Maybe the early retirement will help our case. So far the rumor is 1500+ has signed in for. We still have 5 more days before the initial window close, after that they will have 2 more weeks to resign the early out.

I'm all for saving jobs - but I'm not convinced our management group wouldn't take an ALV reduction and furlough the same number anyway. Haven't we learned that lesson before? I'd want something in the language that'd give us a win if they went ahead with the furlough - not just a snap back to the original ALV, but something we didn't already have before.

Totally agree! They have to show good will, not just take.

I have unfortunate news. Even if you have a non aviation degree such as myself..we all lack something very important outside of aviation: Experience. It's because we have dedicated the past decade + acquiring experience as pilots and not in anything else.

Think you'll go find something to do that pays even a fraction of what you make as an airline pilot? Wake up. If the worst happens and we have to adapt and survive, each one of us will figure it out. One way or another. What certainly won't help are smug comments like "you have six months..prepare nowww" or bone headed financial advice.
Well said. The other thing I'd like to add is that in today's economy "good luck finding a good renter". People are behind on all kind of payments, millions lost their jobs and here you have those moralists raising the finger telling us to get our house in order... You get my (other) finger for being severely out of touch!

Lower ALV is such a huge win for pilots. It blows my mind that anyone could be against it.

I see it as a win only if the reduction in my paycheck goes entirely to keeping other guys from being furloughed. I need to see the math and some strong contractual language. Not just a wink and a smile from management. I'm not an industry veteran by any means but I've seen this movie before.

What cracks me up the most is it’s something we were considering / wanting and now everyone acts like it’s a concession. I would love to have ALV in the low 70s.

You guys have heard of make up, right? If you want to fly more, you can.... Lower Line values out of PBS via a reduced ALV is a good deal.
