Yeah like I’ve been checking my email a lot too. Was hoping to see a section to update with an interview slot. I doubt they’ll be working on anything this weekend considering it’s Easter. Hopefully next week we get some traction.

Hurry up and do the work traits section then keep watching your PC and should be able to select an interview date soon.

what work traits section? All my check marks are green. Which part are you referring to?

Beechnutz 04-08-2023 06:45 PM

I believe it shows up eventually for you.

So, after applying initially back in March of 22 I've heard boo! Then I get the email last week to verify everything is updated. I had all green checks prior to updating and after. When you sign out there's the big red banner saying there's a new PST. So, I go to the "PST" tab and I get the following...

Am I good to go or missing something obvious?

That’s the message you get when you’ve already taken the pilot skills test. When I got the phone call to update my app my medical and a couple other things were out of date because I hadn’t updated for a few months. Make sure all that stuff is good to go and you should be fine.

It is, day 1 is a busy day.

memphisflyer 04-12-2023 01:01 PM

Does anyone know what percentage of pilot sent to the review board get a job offer?

colonials13 04-12-2023 03:32 PM

Have a question about the application’s education section. Would it be better to shoot an email to [email protected], or [email protected]?

Thanks

What is the solution for not having kept all the logbook endorsements over the years? I have a purely digital logbook and never kept up with the paper endorsements.

Trying to figure what to do right now. I know it’s my fault for this situation

IDriveJets 04-13-2023 12:28 PM

Still haven’t heard anything since they emailed me saying my app was under review

you have an ATP. The only people who care about endorsements are people giving you an FAA ride

Waiting to hear back from the AA email. I’d give just about anything for them to have the same opinion. I’ll keep faith, thank you!

And Delta…

So American in the past has taken CJOs to other airlines as leverage for an interview… is this still happening? Pondering whether it’s even worth the risk of ****ing someone off

There have been some from WOs who have done this. It has been hit or miss. Probably depends on the individual and who happens to read your email. I haven’t heard whether or not the works from someone off the street.

Apply at all the places you want to work and if one of them offers you a job, take it.

Hmm, interesting. I only ask cause I’ve gotten asked in a meet and greet (with AA) before if I had anything else elsewhere lined up. I answered honestly, which was no at the time, but that question kind of raised an eyebrow. I had way less time at that meet and great though so nothing came of it at the time.

it would make sense for one airline to poach another’s recruits in this current shortage

That is, of course, why AA tends not to hire from their WOs and those from the WOs go to Delta and United.

you think Lori had a say in pilot recruiting??

It's been a while since I heard that the whole "other Legacy CJO" thing work. But worth a try maybe?

You can’t win if you don’t play, just don’t hold your breath.

Needabetterjob 04-17-2023 08:12 AM

I heard June new hire classes are cancelled. Is that the norm? Anybody have more info

MCDUmanipulator 04-17-2023 08:20 AM

Probably just a pause to clear back logs. Did the same thing a while ago.

Fly76 04-17-2023 08:24 AM

I bet it’s more all hands on deck to start summer flying

I mean that’s the hope right? But after the disappointing first qtr report and pax less than expected for Spring Break combined with the worsening economy, I think AA decided that maybe they don’t need to hire 2000 a year.

AviateLife 04-17-2023 10:15 AM

4-5 week wait from indoc to systems so it’s to clear the back log since AA needs help in the training. They can get it if they finish the final QOL items in section 6

AirWrecka 04-17-2023 05:26 PM

Have classes actually be canceled or are there just no classes ever scheduled for June? If they were canceled, was a later class offered?

DoNoHarm 04-17-2023 05:32 PM

There really aren't any backlogs right now. New hire classes are not waiting long for sims.

There were initially classes for June and people had been assigned those classes. The AA regionals (specifically Envoy, but the others needed it too) are really short on Captains and they were going to be forced to cancel even more flying for this summer. The attrition is just too great of Captains. AA suffers if their regional feed suffers and cancels flights, so AA agreed to cancel new hire classes for 2 months this year (possibly 3) so that there would be more captains available at the regionals since there will be fewer flows.

30-40 extra captains that will not flow in June and another 30-40 captains that will not flow in December are a bid deal and will really help the regionals keep the flights staffed through summer and again through Christmas.

AA will increase the class sizes to make up for the month without class, so the number hired will be the same. Just fewer of the pilots will come from Envoy, Piedmont, and PSA flows.

AA has been consistently putting 48 in each new hire class, but bumped the last 2 up to 53 (10 extra in the last 2 weeks), and will continue to bump up the numbers to make up for the month with no hiring.

AirWrecka 04-17-2023 05:39 PM

Interesting. I assume there is a contractual agreement that each class must have a certain number of flows? That is a bit of a bummer for everyone else in class that isn’t a flow.

If there is a class at AA in a given month, then there must be flows that month. 10-20 per month from Envoy/Piedmont/PSA each, depending on their contract and the exact number of pilots they currently have.

Since there will be more hires in May and July to make up for it, it shouldn't matter too much for outside hires. In fact, many will get hired in May that would instead not get hired until June. Who it really sucks for are the pilots at the AA Regionals who trusted to company to do the right thing. Instead, they chose to stay at the regional airline to flow to AA and AA screwed them over by pulling garbage like this.

highfarfast 04-17-2023 07:14 PM

This really isn’t new. They’ve done this before many times. Given the swollen number of hires on the surrounding months when they do this, it’s clearly to subvert the contracts they signed with the wholly owned pilots.
