Yeah I wouldn't be so sure about that. Cargo companies are still buying brand new 767s that were designed in the 1970s and 777s that were designed in the 1990s.

I for one can't imagine flying a wide body across the pond without a flight engineer

What about one with a navigator on a Connie? Really old school.

Now we just cross the pond with three pilots instead of two pilots and an FE.

Interesting comment considering there were lots of negative talk about FedEx financials pre Covid.

At AA at least you will have the chance to get paid at home. FedEx won’t give you that opportunity.

Unfortunately, Covid hit and showed (again) just how vulnerable pax carriers are to any economic disruption. FedEx definitely was struggling (but still more profitable than the legacies) pre-Covid. However, Covid enabled UPS/FedEx to pull five years of growth into two years and are their divorce from Amazon profitable. A solid business model enables a company to weather tough times far easier.

This. I sit SC in base in DFW and get called rarely. Well a little more now with all the domestic WB flying but living in base will give you opportunities that commuting won't.

Believe it or not, you can sit LC at home as a commuter and get used rarely (though not in the summer).

And you need how much seniority to hold that, 10 years?
People talk how nice it is to hold WB CA and make 330/hr with 21 days off, but they forget to mention it takes 35 years of seniority to hold it.
