Eventually Seniority means almost nothing and you can’t hide forever come the 2nd half of the month.

So basically spend the whole month on reserve, never fly and every 3 months go to the Sim to do landing recency. Furthermore, even being on reserve for 3 Months without flying they still get the minimum guarantee. Does anyone know if that’s true at AA? Cheers |
It blows my mind reserve isn’t top of the list senior. mostly 2-day trips. Living in base 20 plus nights in your own bed usually.
|
AA has "sick if needed" for reserves. You can call in "sick if needed". If you are on reserve and you were not going to be used, it doesn't cost you anything. If they call you, then your sick time starts.
Here's the real trick...if they call you for a trip the next day, you can call in "not sick" the next morning and you are back on reserve and it doesn't cost you any sick time. |

Good friend with TWA, NB senior captain, used to bid SC reserve in June, every two years. Painted his house siding, then two years later did the window trim. Only once did he get called. Out and back. Home for dinner. Otherwise he was painting. Better than taking vacation.

Fastest line? 73s to LGA. |
I see lots of senior playing the 3 day reserve block with 1700 RAP. Unless you get called for a red eye that night, you're not much use to scheduling for your whole block beyond a 2 day trip. Lots of low GTD reserves for the month.

You’ll probably get to CLT in the same vacancy bid no matter what. You’ll probably move up seniority quicker if you’re on the 737. However, having flown both myself, the Airbus is better in almost every facet. The 737 has a better FMS (IMO), can fly higher, and the auto descend VNAV at TOD is great but that’s about it.

Can you post that class drop, not saying that you are wrong but I did not notice it and trust me I am watching it VERY closely. I would be surprised if I missed this. I haven't seen an ORD class drop since May.

How does it work if you don’t get the base you want, but it’s offered to a class after you, but before the next vacancy? Tough luck until a new vacancy opens?

You can base transfer through MBE (mutual base exchange) between pilots.

Either way MBE only works if there is somebody willing to switch. So don't think you're going to be able to MBE your way from LGA to PHX or ORD. You will have to wait for vacancy bids for that.

This is false. I thought this as well so I waited. People junior to me got the MBE while still in sims. Put that in ASAP

You also cannot be the most junior pilot in the base you are attempting to get into. That little tidbit is why I had to wait for a vacancy.

737/I - 6/2022 320/D - 7/2022 So basically 2-3 months after you finish training. |
