On May 18, 2023, APA and American Airlines successfully negotiated agreements in principle on several remaining economic items, including pay rates. These agreements complement previously agreed-to items, including enhanced work rules and scheduling improvements that focus on quality of life and operational integrity. We will publish a high-level summary and provide more details in the coming days.

However, we understand that the desire for details is shared by all as we move forward with this process. To provide some of those details, we offer the following selected highlights addressed in this agreement. The below bullet points do not fully detail the changes to the agreement, are not all inclusive, and are for informational purposes only.

Several items that jump out at me:

50% premium for reassignment flying in the current duty period. 100% override for subsequent duty periods until returned to original sequence. This applies to reserves too and the override goes above guarantee.

Sequence distribution. Minimum 20% will be 1-2 days trip. 4 days max 38% on a yearly bases. And 5 days to a max of 8%. I like that.

35 vacation days at year 19. Vacation day pays 4:35.

Delta profit sharing and a 3% pay bump at the amendable date.

international pay now includes Canada. Narrow body long haul override includes Europe, South of the Equator and HI. So a 737/320 Captain flying to say GYE or LIM will get a $14.50 override. Anything to Hawaii gets a $8.00 over ride. It’s not a separate pay rate for the XLR but dare I say it’s better?

I love this as well, it’s a huge QOL gain. Good stuff 👍

So how’s the back pay work for Jan 1, 2023-May 1, 2023. Is it’s 14%? And then May 2 and on is 21%?

I bet the 3 months at 21% in 2023 is it. Nothing else in 2023. Hope I’m wrong.
