Also surprised to see this as well coming to AA with a previous 737 type. Gotten used to it now though I guess. To be fair though, every company does things just a little different that seem ridiculous to outsiders on the same equipment. Not that it matters anyway, as long as I got a ride home.

I thought I read somewhere that Sliceback is retired. He/she/it talks about wide body flying a lot, may have been a while since they flew the 737

Maybe he should have cracked a book. That’s where procedures are at
The book makes no comment on this. It's a technique on this aircraft. Makes us old heads cringe but it's not in the book so it's a technique.

I use 'it' so even I don't get confused. ;-)

Yeah, it's wasn't a 737 FO.

Talking with a retired AA CKA last week. SimP at a Big 3 competitor now on the same airplane. "It's amazing to me that the same aircraft is flown so differently at another airline. Neither is necessarily better, it's just different. That was a hard part of the switch...trying to remember...nope, that's NOT how THEY do it."

So you make up a procedure and you’re upset the FO doesn’t understand what you want?

Sorry, but I've been in the industry for nearly 20 years, been in 3 training departments and have never heard of anything close to this. More than 1 standard? Never heard of that.

Really? I'd love to see those different standards. So if you're not white, you get what, an additional dot off the GS on an ILS before they'll let you bust CQ? If you're female you get a free runway incursion per year? If you check every single DEI box, they just exempt you from ever doing V1 cuts? Or how does it work exactly? Curious...
