Bruh, you know as well as anyone else that we all start in and some people get stuck in the ‘Monkey see, Monkey do’ phase and just never bother to learn the why behind.

New FO recently on applying takeoff power - "stable" as the command sector is at redline and the engines are accelerating through 40%. Huh?!?!? Afterwards I ask him what that was about? "Everyone says 'stable' at about 40%." Yes...but there's the slightest pause to confirm that they're symmetrical. "Oh. No one told me that. I thought I was just copying what they were doing." He fixed it. He just hadn't been told. He'd observed it but didn't see the nuance. The great part was departing SNA a couple of days later and there's skidmarks on the departure end of 20R from a split N1 situation as they started their departure roll - "that's why we mark sure they're stable."

There are different standards for the amount of additional training and OE allowed before termination.

Our professional isn't your political football. Take your rage farming B.S. elsewhere. We fly planes, not fight stupid political battles.

That seems like something that would have been easily identified, talked about, and corrected very early in sim training - like the first takeoff - let alone during IOE. We all go through the rote stage of learning various concepts, but that would be pretty surprising if someone didn't understand that one😮

Everybody gets to speak, which is rule number 1. What you should be saying is, “Prove it”. If he can’t, your point has been made. What we don’t need are thought/word police telling anyone that they can’t have that opinion. The American left has really shot themselves in the foot with this tactic.

“no one told me that?”

Maybe he should have cracked a book. That’s where procedures are at

You're on 737 correct? I've got 2000 hours on it now (FML) and don't know of a stable call on t/o.

aa is the only airline that doesn't call for stable at 40% FYI. he may have had a 737 type before. also AA is the only airline that allows autothrottle on with a/p off. never seen that before.
