Almost everybody hired from a ULCC (and we hire a lot from ULCCs) wants to go to the bus because who wouldn't want to train in the same plane they already know? That's what I wanted but I got the 737 instead and in hindsight it was a very good thing that happened. The seniority is sooo much better on the 737 and I would argue the flying is better. The only thing that sucks is that we don't get Hawaii.
The XLRs will also make a difference but I am hearing that it will be it's own bid status so most Airbus pilots won't have access to that. On the 737 we will eventually get the Max 10s and who knows how the company will use those.
The lack of room on the 737 does kind of suck but you get used to it. But flying it is more fun then the Airbus.

it’s not at all going to be its own bid status. Sure there will be an additional qual for trans Atlantic that everyone won’t get but it’s not going to be a separate bid status.

AA mgmt would have to negotiate for it. You can debate what that would look like and what APA would gain from it and how much APA would just roll over but no, as of now there won’t be a separate bid status without an LOA or as part of the next CBA.
FWIW, an AA 320 CKP confirmed it was floated by the company a couple years ago but apparently the company itself decided it wasn’t worth it.

The XLR will not be it’s own bid status, LGA320D will become LGA320I and LGA/PHL 320 crews will get AE qual’d just like LAX/PHX get the HI qual. I agree it’s a better path for most to start on the 737 to enjoy the seniority and then switch to the Bus later on. I’ve flown both and it’s not that big of a deal to learn the other plane. When we finally get all the XLRs flying PHL will be a great bid status and probably very popular making some other bases even more junior.
When the 757/767 was here, the junior CA was around 6000. XLR trips may even go senior to that because you don't have to bid a specific airplane and be a junior reserve on it to do the flying.

huh? Some of the old block 737s maybe, but the new ones can cool down a hot airplane pretty quick. For all the whining I hear from people on Facebook about walking into a hot airplane and not being able to cool it down, the majority of them have to deal with an Airbus. Fire up the APU on most of our 737s and it will cool down that aircraft real quick.

I just upgraded to the left seat of the 737 from the right seat of the Airbus in PHX, and in my opinion, the 737 is cooler (temp-wise). I haven’t noticed any difference in seat comfort between the two, unless you prefer “riding low” in the Airbus. The door dance with the FAs when using the lav, eating off your lap, and knocking your nugget or knees against cockpit switches are factors.
Also if using the APU to run packs, with #2 engine running, you'll get exhaust inhalation.
I have PTSD from sitting on 737 DH's waiting for gates in MIA and DFW with engines at idle.
