you can keep them abreast to what flight you are on or next available and likely nothing will happen as long as you keep trying to get to base. A “commuter miss” is non-punitive but if you can’t get in at all that day you could be pay docked

Those are fairly rare since there's plenty of people who will do them for MU.

This is happening to me now. Had a SC 4 day filled with missed connections and late nights with no RA due to all the added legs being the product of delays and cancellations. Getting home today with minimum rest before an island turn first thing in the morning. I think I’m gonna be good to do it but next summer will be my third year here and I’m gonna just try to hold a line, no matter how bad.

That’s some BS. Operationally induced fatigue does not magically disappear the second you set the parking brake and go off duty in domicile. How does the union allow that from the company?

Because the union knows they are the cause of this by allowing the new RAS rules. We never had these problems under the old system.

Ohh, and I thought we were supposed to get more lines with this new system. Whatever happened to that? Still over 40 percent reserves in some bid statuses.

I'm fairly certain that the airline couldn't recover an operation without 30-35% reserves minimum after watching things for a couple years. Like we'd probably get to DAL crowdstrike levels of disfunction with 25% reserve staffing and a butterfly flapping it's wings in Shanghai. To your point it's 35%+ in small statuses. That accounts for people (present company included) ho'ing out for premium and/or OG, and the zero time line guys snapping everything they can up for MO/MU. If guys ever by and large stopped picking up open time things would be far worse.

Oh well, more mainline pilot jobs I guess. Junior guys, hope you like working 85 hours these summer months. Someday you'll be senior, son.
