Is it a good idea to be posting people's names? Honest question, not trying to antagonize.

Being a union officer is like being a CEO. It brings a reduction in expected level of personal privacy.

I don't fully understand the naming. Does the constitution and by-laws require the amendment be named after the sponsor?

Perhaps anti-ALPA merger amendedment would have given the game away? The bar is now, 51% of the pilot group must want ALPA bad enough to engage in the trouble of logging into the association website and voting for it.

In the age of the Internet, there is no more privacy. Everyone's info has been stolen many times over and sold in the dark web.

because ALPA is slow rolling the process, forcing APA’s hand and requiring them to prepare for both. Reportedly will only agree to one negotiating session per month. Genius move, if you think about it.

But what's ALPA's play by dragging their feet? Tank the negotiations so the topic won't be revisited for another 25 years? It comes off as less of a master-class chess move and more of disinterest. That would be a waste of union dues all around.

I admittedly haven’t done much research, but based on the already AIP’d items I wouldn’t say it comes across as disinterested at all. It seems as though they’re very interested in having the AA pilots join them. If they can agree on the dues it seems like a good deal. That being said, I’m under no illusion that the AA pilots will vote in favor of a merger under the current voting rules.

The interesting thing will be what will APA advocate for IF they come to agreeable merger terms.

IF APA comes to agreeable terms with ALPA, they should be advocating for the merger to the pilot group. In the end, the APA reps/leaders will draft language to keep them in position until next cycle of MEC and LEC ALPA elections, so they keep their spots.

Don’t shoot the messenger. The “ALPA only will agree to 1 meeting per month” came directly from members of the BOD in a base blast Dec 21. Ask your rep about it.

1) Divide APAs resources (S6 prep and negotiate merger at the same time), 2) weaken and bleed APA dry for the full amount of the dues holiday 3) delay any vote until after S6 openers have been exchanged in order to have a more engaged pilot group and a sense of urgency.

Makes perfect sense from their side to try to get the best acquisition deal AND the highest chances of passing.
