The Gustin Amendment counts all non-voters as automatic "no" votes. It's the most absurd, corrupt, antidemocratic thing I've ever seen from a pilot union. Imagine if that's how congress was elected? We would never see any turnover.
The cherry on top is the 25 year ban on another attempt. Probably long after said representative retires. Just nails the coffin shut on the remaining group to suffer through lack luster APA representation

I like the PHX reps take on the dues holiday and maybe another angle on why we were given it:

“We believe that the impetus for the APA-ALPA dues holiday was the 2023 ALPA Exploratory Report’s finding that, over the preceding 23-year period, AA pilots had effectively paid a 1.3% dues rate.

Our view is that one purpose of the APA-ALPA Merger Dues Holiday is to “reset” this comparison so that any merger with ALPA will appear to be a substantial dues increase for AA pilots.“

I 100% believe this after seeing the Gustin amendment and the number of reps ok counting “non votes” as essentially a no vote. The 25 year thing also just blows my mind.

Not DFW based, but I've been reading the usual election season hit pieces, and it says that Gustin is now an Airbus IP?

Taking a training department position when they just announced the company has no plan to implement the LCP program is beyond tone deaf.

Exactly. We should all be tired of self-serving people taking Union positions to boost their own earnings and quality of life.

Not to mention the newly elected Secretary Treasurer who's been withheld CA for over 2 years now (due to his previous union duties) and we're paying his CA salary difference with our APA dues (he's still an FO but paid as CA).

That amendment is an insult to intelligence. And the problem is not having such an amendment, the problem is HOW THE F*CK did that ever get approved or passed. Rest of union members saw it and thought oh ok, sure!.?

Even more corrupt is the PHX reps proposed 2 amendments to allow the pilots to vote on the 25 year and on the way votes will be tallied, letting the pilots decide if we should amend the bylaws. These required 2/3 approval just to GET IT TO the pilots to vote; both failed to even meet 50%, no less 2/3rd.

So ask yourself, why are 70% of the reps not even willing to let the pilots vote to decide if they want to keep the 25 year rule and vote counting procedure in place?
