All,

Thanks for the information. It is helpful.

Another way of putting it: I spend 80 hours a week in the service of my company, and my car is in the parking lot that whole time. Layovers at an airport hotel are NOT vacations.

Default Just An Idea...

A way to start to put some pressure on AA management is to stop putting FO landings into the ACARS (assuming you still do that).

In 90 days, it will be impossible to put all the FO's through simulator requal.

I don't think it will take 90 days for them to see it coming, probably a week of no logged FO landings should get their attention...

Do you realize that many other professions do the same thing?

I was sitting in DFW an hour or so ago and was listening to a couple of gate agents. One of them told me she is tired of the mess Tht the pilots are creating. So she stuck one in 32e. She also went on about denying another a seat because she didn't have time.

There is backlash that is going on within the company.

Interesting that she said "the mess the pilots are creating."

I guess she doesn't realize that the vast majority of the cancellations are coming from management at least the day prior?

How nice of her to take out a perceived pilot action on the passengers by hosing them on seat assignment and downright denied boarding because she "didn't have time."

Different employee labor groups rarely know the details, history, and burdens of what other groups have gone through to the same degree that those who experienced it first hand do. That was a very ignorant and unprofessional action on the gate agents part.

Take what you overhear from employees speaking about the issues of other labor groups with a grain of salt.

Taking what a FA or GA says about the issues is not what I was pointing out. The fact that they are getting frustrated with with the situation was my point. An additional fact that they would say it knowing someone from the public is within earshot is also interesting.

Gate agents and FA's gab with the public in earshot all the time. That their frustration is pointed at the wrong place is also a very frequent occurrence.

When I was at pinnacle as an FO, gate agents started blabbing at me about how overpaid I was and blah blah blah for not agreeing to the company's recent contract proposal to us.

I made 25,000 dollars that year.

So, no... I do not give much weight to their idle chatter.

Who wouldn't be frustrated? That doesn't point out anything.

And complaining and blabbing within earshot of pax is one of the things they do best. My first airline job when I was in college was working as a CSA (gate agent, etc). I quit that job for two reasons: All the complaining, gossipping, and *****ing from my coworkers about you name it, and all the misplaced abuse and childish and violent behavior you receive from the passengers.
