I think everyone got what they wanted (of the choices available anyway). Most junior was MIA, but even the next to last had a choice of DFW or MIA (LGA was middle-ish iirc)
AA has 221 737s, how is it that I have not seen one being available as an airframe choice for new hires in some time? Maybe I am not understanding how this process works- can someone explain how they determine what to offer new hires?

Any idea where the most junior lineholders are? (ie- base/equip that has quickest line)

The 737 was loaded up heavily with new-hires over the fall and I understand it caused training back-ups for both new-hires and recurrents. If the 76 is reduced in New York, many will displace to 737 there, DFW, ORD, LAX, DCA and BOS are too senior for newbies and it's MIA that had some IOE logjam. Probably see MIA 737 start to trickle back into the new-hire mix.

LGA A320 9400
MIA 737D 8600
MIA 767I 8500
DFW S80 8200
MIA 737I 8200
DFW 737D 7500

Snapshot of March. Can change every month with hiring in effect.

LGA A320 is due to it being new equipment and sometimes more senior guys don't jump on it right away.

May job run had a bunch of junior guys going to DFW 737D. So the picture might change.

So how would that change things- more 73 spots in Miami cause those guys went to DFW

Increase in 737 bodies in DFW might support more 737 flying which would lower the junior lineholder from it's current 7500(?). Or more senior DFW 737 guys are switching to other seats. Back filling with junior guys from MIA would also lower the junior lineholder.

And yes, MIA 737 might back fill as guys bail to other bases.

That's why the junior bases typically stay junior, as soon as a guy gets some seniority they bail to a base closer to home.

In general terms, how do the A320 lines differ from the 73D and 73N lines (all LGA)?

737 flying is a mixture of turns, 2 and 3 days.

A320 is transcons. Period. 1/6 are all-nighters coming back to JFK.

Sweet flying. Twelve hour trip, almost always good weather in CA except for SFO fog, each guy gets a leg.

As a ref, what is the number of the latest(ish) junior guy?

I think a guy told me he's around 10,050. Add in March and it's probably around 10,100.
